"Grotty weather again,"...

Recommended Posts

Don't know what you lot are moanin' about.

Electrician calls to check and start re-wiring house 9:00 am this morning.

Deep intake of breath ! "Ooooh. Don't like the look of that immersion !!"

SQUEAK: SQUEAK: 'Where's the bl**dy stopcock ??'

(Thank God a plumbers on hand !

Now, not only is raining outside ! I'ts pis**ng down inside as well, now !

Complaining about the weather ? You don't know how lucky you are ! I expect they'll be shutting the power off when they get back with a new immersion.

Of course we all use the word "grotty" now, but it was a word invented by Richard Lester, director of the 1964 film A Hard Days Night.

George Harrison: "I don't like those shirts. They're dead grotty."

Man in shop: "Grotty?"

George Harrison: "Grotesque."

See. Wasn't just the face of British music that the Beatles pioneered. It's the English language too!!

[color:"blue"] Sun out in Leafy Surrey too !

HOWEVER: Electricians have given up any hope of starting the re-wire today, and the plumber has located and IS fitting a new immersion tank, so instead of no leccy, we've got no bl**dy water or heat !

'Er Indoors curled up on the sofa under a duvet.

At least I can listen to a good old, true blue English workman grafting away upstairs !

Oh - The joys of life.
