codpiece
As we are about to honour Kevin McGoldrick's 32 years service with the club , are there any historians who would know if this is a club record ? From my time watching , i can only think of Terry Reardon who holds the record number of appearances as a player from 1964 to 1981 as well as his spell as manager who comes anywhere near. Kevin's service will be difficult to match in the modern game as loyalty seems to be on the wane.
epicrebel
Well Terry (who was at Uxbridge) has 475 + 90 goals, As Kev came to us in the 85/86 season ( I think it was the Orient FA Cup game 7th Dec) with 1,699 (not including friendly's) + NO goals. He has only missed 10 games in this time. If you take it as about 6 friendly's per season it's about 1,885 games. NOT including this season. A Rebel and a Saint
Maybe we should get Kev on the team sheet for the match and get him to take a penalty or something
epicrebel
Kev has done nearly as many Appearances as the top 5 of all time (if counting friendly's). But has the same record as Trevor Bunting of NO goals. Q this no goal thing isn't an issue is it
HorshamRebel
No issue, as he had a goal every game. His goal was to treat the players to his best ability, which he met every time he had to come on the pitch. ?
David Carpenter
I like ARAS basic idea - how about Kev kicking the game off as Julie Sliski did for the first game back? Perhaps this or something similar is already in hand although of course S.K. wishes are paramount.

This will not happen I am afraid, as whilst it is a celebration of Kevs time as a testimonial, this is also a serious pre season game for us against a Premier League side, who are using it as a pre season game for them also. Kev does not want lots of fuss on Saturday, his view on it is he has a job to do, and he wants to concentrate on that, of course there will be a couple of presentations, and likely he will have a guard of honour at the game, but you wont see much out of the norm for Kev. It is the fans opportunity to thank him for everything he has done for the club.
bluerebel
Typical Kev. No fuss just get on with it. What a role model for others in Sport and in General.
David Carpenter
Neil as I stated Kev's wishes are paramount and I was just making a suggestion following on from ARAS comments. I agree with bluerebel. Kev is a fantastic role model and looking forward to honouring him Saturday.
David Carpenter
And it goes without saying best wishes for the match itself.
