Shredding Green

Recommended Posts

I have my train tickets @ £6-90 each way after 1/3rd. Senior Railcard discount.

Dep. Langley 07.22  Arr. Hereford 11.19

Dep. Hereford 19.11 Arr. Langley 23.03

Rebels playing before over 4,000 in a league match? Way over 2,000 at any rate.

Guest route104

Wills pricing is correct, but he must use the trains he has stated the price shoots up for a later departure, he is also booking in advance.                                    There are bargains to be had if you trawl the rail booking sites

Just in case anyone still thinks Hereford won't have the biggest playing budget this season, they are looking for a new GM who they might pay upwards of £40k per year. All thanks to their reported £1m turn over.

Not sure anyone can doubt that as simple maths will tell you so. But also just because they have say £1m available doesn't mean it's all allocated to their playing budget. We shall all watch with interest as the season progresses to see how they fare. Pretty sure the managers remit would be minimum top 5 though.

It's one of those strange bargain tickets in advance RebelDelaney which enables me to make more frequent visits to the Severn Valley Railway.

On the train I take to and from Hereford, the cheapest advance tickets apply only to stations between Worcester Shrub Hill and Hereford. For instance, on the same train Oxford is £10-75 each way and the fares increase station by station until Worcester Shrub Hill where they drop to just £5-95 each way and Hereford £6-95 each way. Swindon is not on the Paddington-Worcester-Hereford route so the advance fares are not as cheap.

The reported £1 million turnover probably comes from this article, which related to the 2015/6 season when they made it to the FA Vase final and benefited significantly from merchandise, sponsorship and prize money. It will be interesting to see if it is that high when the 2016/7 accounts are filed.

They would have got £36k from FA Vase prize money only (I am sure they would have made a fair bit on shirt and other club related item sales due to their run). They weren't in the FA cup or FA trophy

16/17 They would have made about £9k from the FA Cup in prize money (and nothing from the FA Trophy)

It says in that article.... merchandise brought in £260k, prize money was £40k.

In addition it is likely they received 20%+ of the Wembley final match receipts..... there were about 47,000 there so match receipts from the final could have been £1 million, and their share £200k+.

So in total, almost £500k of that £1 million of revenue may have related to getting to the final of the FA Vase.

At the bottom of the news piece you linked to there is another link to the Hereford FC accounts (this is that report http://www.herefordfc.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/2016-final-accs.pdf)

on page 13 it has all the income and costs detailed.

You will see they only got the £40k you mention from cup prizes and nothing else. The tickets sales are all from league matches.

Also remember that a lot of their merchandise that year came from it being their first year as a club so people would have bought the new club shirt and other items with the new badge on it.

They made a profit that year, and would have been one of the very few in non league to have done so.

p.s. the gate receipts from the final are not given to the teams in the final. it is divided like this: 90% goes to the FA and 10% to the pool

Are you sure it's that way round? It used to be 90% divided between Clubs and 10% to the FA (page 14):-

That used to be FA Trophy rules, and it was the same for the FA Vase before it transferred to the Non League Final Day combining them.

They changed it recently, I was looking at the 2016/17 rules.

If you search "FA Vase Rules" on google the second link should be a pdf with the rules for 2016/17. Section 22 has the rules concerned
