Come on let's not brown nose Hereford too much, yes they should be decent but let's not fear them and place them as world beaters!

Brian Clough would always talk up the opposition and talk down his teams chances, and that was when they were winning leagues and two European Cups, not a bad way to approach all games I believe.

Looks like a very tough start to the season...... Gosport, Hereford & Farnborough away and Hitchin at home in our first seven matches.

I wouldn't be surprised if the bookies place all of them amongst the top 8.

Do the bookies start offering odds around the end of this month??

It's funny but I don't see it as a difficult start. With the squad we have, I think IF we can build up a head of steam from the first five games of the season following a good pre-season, I can only see Slough being a real handful for anyone in this division this season. One never knows but I'm confident that we are going to do well.

I think we should let other teams worry about us, rather than we worry about them.

Bit of a set back in this regards with the Alan Inns injury. Just hope he's available before the end of pre-season but we have enough cover to weather that storm, if he is out longer.

Just a bummer not being able to try out a few different defensive selections ie 3 centre backs, a sweeper system ,various partnerships etc before our league campaign commences.

Nice to get the first match at home ,Kettering is a mouthwatering prospect,in terms of watching enterprising exciting football, should be a humdinger and an fairly open game, if the weather stays good. Has potential to be a tricky one to overcome but what better way to start our season if we get a win.

Back on the actual fixture list.

Looking through the mid week matches for each team it seems like the league has actually done a pretty good job for once with very few silly long trips.

We actually probably have the worst mid week trips out of any team with having to travel to Merthyr and Redditch, but that is not too bad. Even Tiverton has been given reasonable mid week matches considering they will have the most travelling to do this season.

Not sure Farnborough look like being much of a force as it stands, they have lost a whole host of players looking at their forum.

Also says Curtis Osano speaking to us? CB player who was an ex pro, seems a funny one as we are well stocked defensively?

There is no truth in that comment on the Farnborough forum whatsoever, not sure where this has come from, but neither myself or Unders even had a phone number for him to even have a conversation if we wanted (which we don't as more than happy with our defensive options).

The squad is pretty much where it is, all are signed on with the exception of Paul Hodges who we will continue to look at.

Agree - I don't think we have anyone to fear and are capable of beating any team in this league - however we will have games where we are not 100% and we will have decisions not go our way and will get beaten by lower teams - that is football.

However the squad we have is strong and we have strength in depth and the managers know the teams we are going to face, so you must fancy us to finish somewhere in the top end of the league.

Unfortunately will miss opening game as one of my cousins allowed his wife-to-be to book up their wedding for the 12th of August - how inconsiderate! Now trying to talk him into staying single for the sake of the game.

Difficult to gauge how many Hereford would actually bring seeing as it's quite a distance (good 3 hour drive without issues). Certainly a few hundred, not sure over 500 though? Hereford will certainly be shocked at that ground as it's probably the smallest grounds in our league and hopefully they'll be well prepared for all eventualities... hopefully our game won't be all ticket but pretty sure it'll be segregated, let's hope we have more stringent segregation than 1 steward and light plastic gate!!!
