Time for the football to start

Recommended Posts

With our first proper (on our own pitch and against big teams) set of preseason friendlies for many years, and a full season in the new ground; this must be one of the most anticipated seasons for many a decade.

A stable club with a down to earth Chairman, realistic Managers, a proven and developing squad, a growing fan base and a realistic hope for silver wear, this new season should be one to be cherished.

Agree with most of what you say Clive.

Our fan base grew dramatically last season lets hope it continues to grow next season.

So Eddie which bits don't you agree with, as I think everything which I stated is either true of realistic?

Preseason is the strongest this millennium - when was the last time we had a premier league or even old 1st division team?, 1st full season - we started last season at SYCOB.

Steve is the best thing to happen to the club and saved it from extinction, but has not gone mad splashing the cash now that there is a proper income stream.

The managers have worked to the budget and delivered promotion first season and playoffs this one just gone.

The squad is stable with the least amount of player turnover for years, but being bolstered with quality new players when required.

A growing fan base which was the second largest growth in all non-leauge last season of 128.1% - only AFC Fylde was higher.

As for silver wear we have all the above right so we should be striving to add to the trophy cabinet!

Whats not to be cherished with the above?

Clive, perhaps I should re-phrase my words and say that I agree entirely with what you said, the only addition for our 'realistic managers' would have been the word ambitious but that's just me being pedantic.

As for the fan base, we had fantastic growth last season, lets hope that it continues to grow this coming season.

There was a friendly at Arbour Park after training yesterday afternoon, where a Slough Town 11 played the Morgan Sindall guys.

Trent played in goal for the whole match with Jon and Neil coming on in the second half, and there were quite a lot of goals, with Jon netting some of them.

Here's the photos.

See who you can spot....

Definitely not Jon Palmer or Mark Scott.

Bottom left is Dan Read.

Top row third left is a toughie. Not sure he has ever played in the first team poss only pre season friendlies.
