Bottom Six finish

Forget about a top six finish we are looking at finishing in the bottom six.

Tonights match was cr*p

The return of the boreham wood reject, Ryan "the crab" Williams was a omen of things to come.

Slough started off poorly with no team work and were unable to make an impresion on the home sides defence.

The first goal was caused by the refs failing to give a blattent tackle from behind to our player from which Walton went on to score from.

Poor (being polite) refering caused the game to slide into a succsession of yellow cards culminating in the yellow card to Steve Daley and their No 8's second and leaving us against 10 men.

Did this help - no we managed to give away two more goals to poor defending.

Eddie Denton then brings on super striker Adrian Browne and to the amazement of the traveling fans Browne heads onto the crossbar and Matty Miller scores his first goal for what seems like months.

Radders fails to be around with the new Matty Miller song and the goal goes by with little celebration.

The only consolation to the night was that it only cost 3 quid to get in to watch this CR*P

Does Denton need to be replaced?

Why was Williams playing instead of Rat Catcher?

P.S good turn out of traveling fans.

Don't jump to early conclusions! There's still a long way to go yet, but yes, I expect to see some major improvements. We are better than the bottom six, just think how we beat teams like Met Police, Casuals (ok, so we didn't exactly wipe the floor with them, but we won) and Epsom & Ewell.

I too tonight start to seriously question whether Denton is the right person for the job. For the fourth match running we created nothing. Walton were a poorish side, we were even worse, and the ref was worst of all.

Without Spencer our midfield is woeful. It has been painful to watch the last few matches (last 10 minutes against Ashford aside). Tonight wasn't a one off, it was the continuation of a side that is nowhere near good enough for a top 6 finish. That I can live with, but what I find very annoying is we have been told that Slough has nothing to fear from other teams---excuse me, if the alarm bells arn't seriously ringing by now, then the management isn't in touch with reality.

Surely everyone must realise now that without Spencer we are shocking. The performance tonight was a disgrace and I apologise to anyone who feels that shouting abuse at the players is wrong, but some of the guys out there tonight don't deserve to be supported when they put in performances like that. We need players and fast or else we have no chance of making the top six. If Walton can take us apart as easily as that then we are going to be stuffed by Hampton/Worthing/Tooting. Something needs to change sooner rather than later.

As much as one player doesn't make a team we have looked a different side without our Ryan. I will laugh quite loud though if his return to the side does not bring back a host of chances being created per game.

Watch out Beaconsfield, we're coming!

Agree with you Radders, what is worse we played our first game of the second half of the season today (game 24) so we now only have 22 games to put things right.

Bring in Andy Deaner - he cant be worse than those who played tonight

So where were you with Mattys song??????

It will actually be interesting to find out where Boot has gone. If the rumours on the terraces were true and he has joined Bristol City (????), then why oh why have we replaced our already light on the ground attacking force with a midfielder?

Okay, so Seedel & Deaner are injured, but why let Boot go if we can't get a replacement.

Too many things about this club stink right now. Roll on the trust....

Actually as I went to the abandoned game, I paid nine quid to watch that crap. Woeful.

Well we've gone from beating a lot of Conference sides to having Maidenhead beat us on a regular basis in the B&B Cup, and then in the league. But at least we were better than Windsor and Marlow. Then came Marlow taking four points off us this year, and Windsor most likely six.

At least we're better than Beaconsfield??? Six points for them next year though so I bet they can't wait.

I have some sympathy with Denton's position as he hasn't got the budget Browne wasted, but that said he doesn't seem to be on top of things.

I can't get my head around the unprofessional way the last 2 managers have been appointed---no advertising the vacancy and selecting the best applicant, just appoint the previous assistant for an unspecified period. Good luck to Eddie, perhaps he would have been the best candidate, but perhaps not--- We will never know. Its no way to run a whelk stall, let alone a football club with aspirations of going somewhere.

In the meantime it looks likely that we will move another rung down the pyramid. Am I happy we still have a club to support? Yes, but do I think we will still have a club to support in 3 years time---not unless Deaner changes his ways.

That is a good point Ted. If Denton was to go, who would appoint the new manager? Presumably Deaner and he has got the choice of who to run the ship wrong every time. (Ok I admit I have the benefit of hindsight.) First mistake getting rid of Hardyman....

Too right Radders.

If any of the Slough players get to read this, all I can say is, that was a disgrace tonight boys, have you no pride to wear the shirt and desire to aim for a top 6 place?? The loyal 100+ or so supporters who follow you everywhere you go deserve much, much better for their money. Hope you're reading this too, Eddie Denton. For God's sake sign some decent players.

Thoughts on several posts:

1. "P.S good turn out of traveling fans."

A: This is the last strength of the club.

2. "…. we have been told that Slough has nothing to fear from other teams---excuse me, if the alarm bells arn't seriously ringing by now, then the management isn't in touch with reality. "

A Name a time in the last five years when the powers that be were anywhere other than cloud cuckoo land.

3." …… I apologise to anyone who feels that shouting abuse at the players is wrong, but some of the guys out there tonight don't deserve to be supported when they put in performances like that. We need players and fast or else we have no chance of making the top six. If Walton can take us apart as easily as that then we are going to be stuffed by Hampton/Worthing/Tooting. Something needs to change sooner rather than later. "

A: Indeed… what ever happened to Serve With Honour?

4." Too many things about this club stink right now. Roll on the trust.... "

A: It's time to stop wasting time. All this should have been done 2 or 3 years ago but it wasn't because people are scared of change and generally hope for the best. If nothing much apart from the most loyal fan base is now left the Trust must be bold enough to split away and re-launch if necessary.

5." FA Vase, here we come. "

A: More honour in turning out to do your best against Eton Wick or whatever than rolling over pathetically against the likes of footballing powers such as Windsor and Walton.

6. "Well we've gone from beating a lot of Conference sides to having Maidenhead beat us on a regular basis in the B&B Cup, and then in the league. But at least we were better than Windsor and Marlow. Then came Marlow taking four points off us this year, and Windsor most likely six. At least we're better than Beaconsfield??? Six points for them next year though so I bet they can't wait. "

A: Name a time in past five years when it wasn't downhill. The only time was a few weeks right at the start when from virtually no club left STFC scrambled together a side to go out and SERVE WITH HONOUR in Ryman Prem.

7 "Good luck to Eddie, perhaps he would have been the best candidate, but perhaps not--- We will never know. Its no way to run a whelk stall, let alone a football club with aspirations of going somewhere.

A: The 'hand-me-down' manager's job has come about because they were owed money and on contract?

Deaner changing his ways? Does anyone even understand his ways? If you flip a coin the odds are 50-50. If he had a 50% strike rate of getting it right the club would be 10 times better off than it is now.

8. "That is a good point Ted. If Denton was to go, who would appoint the new manager? Presumably Deaner and he has got the choice of who to run the ship wrong every time. (Ok I admit I have the benefit of hindsight.) First mistake getting rid of Hardyman.... "

A: As above. And as for Hardyman, that was just the start of a catalogue of glaring errors – and Hardyman is when the alarm bell mentioned in 1st post started ringing. Again what odds on always ****ing up?

9." If Deaner was to look at his own track record, he'd have to admit that he was poor at the football side of things. Perhaps his strength lies in the Financial and PA areas."

A: Thank god for STFC humour!! Oh do tell if anyone ever does find his strength. Perhaps we could suggest Russian roulette? What are the odds there? One in six? Do you mean PA as in p*** artist, PA as in personal appearance or PR, something the club has excelled at in recent times!!!

Meant PR not PA!!

"You have to know how the man operates"---perhaps he needs to change the way he operates. His track record is abysmal. OK we all want a new stadium, but the way things are going we might (or might not) have the newest stadium in the Sunday League. Just think of it----Fash FC V Slough Town.
