Is it 'Spirit In The Sky' can only think of Doctor and the Medics and Gareth Gates but neither were the original were they?

 

The other ones I was thinking was 'Baby I love your way' by Peter Frampton or 'Knock on Wood' which has been covered a fair bit too.

Yes, it's Spirit In The Sky. Norman Greenbaum did the original in 1970. All three went to number one.

No, definitely just the one single that reached number one four times. The first time was in 1955 so it may not appear on some lists. Unless the website I found it on has got it wrong of course.
