Longshot
Don't know if anyone has read it, but on the B & B web site they have said they are trying to make the county cups more interesting by increasing the number of clubs who qualify for each cup. It is also aimed at youth teams who play on Sundays having a choice of cup competitions to enter. To my knowledge this must be the first attempt to change this format for a very long time. Its an interesting read on their website. Would be interested on your thoughts especially at the changes for the Senior Cup which Slough Town enter. (better or worse). staines_rebel_Jr
This will mean more matches (to win) the competition and eat up even more space in an already very congested calendar for what is a very low rated competition with little to no incentive to win. The majority of people already find this competition a pain and now it will be even more so with potentially more matches to play. The B & B cup is one of the few county tournaments which doesn't play its final at a big stadium. If they wanted to improve the competition that is where they should have started, put an incentive to get to the final.
staines_rebel_Jr
You also have to wonder how the bigger teams now view the competition and will they still be bothered to compete in what they may now view a watered down competition. Reading and Wycombe have dropped out will MK dons follow? What about Maidenhead who will see staying in the Conference as a priority will they now decide to drop out to avoid playing unnecessary matches? Reading Rebel
Not surprised as the B&B really haven't got a clue. A piss poor competition run on the cheap.
epicrebel
Also clubs will have to think along the lines of these say Sunday team trying to make a point and going over the top with fouls ect.
Longshot
It does seem strange that the Reading Senior Cup is played at the Madjeski Stadium but the Senior County Cup Final is played at a lesser ground. Good point SR Jr. I think if these changes are implemented they will only improve the standard for the clubs at the lower levels rather than the likes of Slough, Maidenhead, Hungerford ect.
