Look.

I, for one, am not interested in whether these teams are at the seaside or not. Dunstable Town? Harlow? Birmingham United? For Heavens sake.

We are the Mighty Saints and today, half-way through the season we are 6/8 points away from the League position where we avoid relegation to this level. There is plenty of time to sort the thing out and it starts on Saturday.

Relegation is not an acceptable option to me. If it is acceptable to certain players, or if they are not prepared to put in the effort to avoid it, then they can go now as far as I am concerned. Steve Castle take note.

What's the point of trying to enter the new setup at such a high level?

We'd need better players and would incur higher travelling costs. In the lower division we'd have more local derbies and would win more games thus generating more income with less expense.

1. Such a high level? It's the current level, dammit, one below the Conference. Playing poor football, we were top of this level for 80% of last season.

2. The average attendance this season is around 320 at a guess, just the 300 or so down from last season. What do you think it would be amongst that lot?

3. What makes you so sure that we would win more games? There are some of the poorer teams in the Ryman League Premier Division in there. If we can beat them next season, why not do so this and avoid the bother of having to so again?

Point 1: with reorganisation, we would still be the same distance (in leagues) from the top as we are now, but, the level of football would be higher because the bottom teams wouldn't be in it.

Point 2: The attendance would depend on point 3 as it always does. If we stay at this level and continue to struggle then attendences should fall further.

Point 3: We'd be one of the top teams in the lower division. If we maintained our current playing staff we should, in theory, win a few more.

Point 1. One of us is reading the thing incorrectly and it's not me.

His "Step 2" is Conference 1, North and South, one step below the Conference. His prediction on current placings shows us in Step 3, one 'Division' or 'League' below where we are today.

Point 1: Compare these two..

CURRENT PROPOSED

Premership Premership

Division 1 Division 1

Division 2 Division 2

Division 3 Division 3

Conference Conference (Premier?)

Ryman Premier Conference South (or whatever)

The two are at the same level.

My point is that the standard of football in the proposed new league will be higher.

Point 2: I'm assuming we drop, and so win more games.

I'm surprised by your lack of ambition, Laz!

Not my lack of amibition but that demonstrated by the club.

We're in the bottom 13, so what do we do, replace players like Simon with players from teams at the bottom of lower divisions. Does that sound like ambition to you?

It seems that the club is targeting the new "level 3" division for next season.
