Ground developments

Recommended Posts

The following was taken from Confguide, issued by Dave H in Oct 2002.

The report following the Ground Grading Visit highlights the following:

Increase capacity to 6,000 to include 1,000 seats under cover

Have permanent segregation facilities in place

Look at having computerised turnstiles (not a requirement but considered best practice)

Provision of separate medical treatment room for players and separate first aid room for spectators

Improvement of press facilities

Directors and other users of Centre Stand not to use tunnel to obtain access to main stand. This area must be solely for use of players and officials.

A ground control room and CCTV facilities must be installed before the start of the club's first season in the League

As ground is improved, seek to improve disabled facilities

To achieve the capacity increase we will have to repair the terracing at the Stonebridge Hill end of the ground and install new crash barriers similar to those at the side of the ground.

The Directors are confident that all of the work can be completed by the deadline.

Ground developments have been mentioned again on a different thread, as a way of getting more people thgrough the turnstiles. Whilst I feel it would be better to get a successful team first and build on the crowds that way, it would be interesting to find out :

a) What work/plans have been done by the board regarding future ground development or aquiring a new ground?

B) What would it cost, after deducting any available grants?

c) Is there a timescale for any work?

In view of the Margit plight, these questions do take on a more important significance, as I couldn't bear to go down the Margit/Sittingbourne/Maidstone/Dartford road.

Rumour also has it that the hole in the roof is remaining while we decide whether or not to have a permanent gantry. Anyone know anything about this?

Either that or there's no-one in Wallis Park who can give us a couple of sheets of corrugated iron for £50.

There are plenty of people in Wallis Park who will sell us a couple of sheets of corrugated iron for £50....the trouble is they will nick the corrugated iron off of the stand behind the goal to sell to us!
