What ever happened to the band?

What ever happened to the band that used to play tunes during matches back in the Conference days?

I seem to remember they released a CD, featuring songs like "Park Life".

Did anyone buy it?

Never mind what happened to the band - what happened to all our Conference fans!

ps dominic banging a drum next to me at horsham surely doesn't count as a 'band'.

I reckon we need to get a band re-union going, what do the rest of you think? I always thought the band, however off-tune and random they were, added something very significant and unique to the Wexham Park atmosphere. Would Roger want to re-unite himself with the bugle? And where's the drum that Dom took to Horsham?

Certainly more now than then, but that's because we would have had a good 250-300 or so behind the goal in the Conference, compared to 50-75? But I always thought that the bugle and drums added to the atmosphere and didn't drown out singing voices too much. Isn't it worth giving it a go?

Surely any noise is good noise though from the Slough faithful? Whether it's singing or drumming or bugling, or a combination. I just would have thought it would be better especially at places like Croydon or indeed Windsor for example which have no atmosphere.

I agree with Gary, the drumming does drown out the vocal support, the only reason the band wotked in the conference days was because there was more vocal support and there was more of an equalibrium between the two, now the attendances have dropped the drumming just doesn't work as well.

In all honesty never really a band fan - it did drown out a lot of the vocal abuse. However best band moment surely 5-0 up against a newly promoted and hotly tipped Rushden and Moneybags in early season '97. The team playing like Holland circa 1974-78 and the band leading the chorus of 'welcome to the Conference'.

Not saying that certain individuals cant play the drums- but i think it deos help if its not just random banding of a drum- rather a decent beat or as it used to be- two drums and a cow bell playing together really well made a great atmosphere- the Bugle was always good for a laugh! no harm in bringing that back!
