from (http://www.tonykempster.btinternet.co.uk/maps.htm) what the new league we would be in could be next year if the season ended at the end of 2003:

Bath City

Chippenham Town

Dorchester Town

Dulwich Hamlet

Eastleigh

Folkestone Invicta

Gloucester City

Hampton & Richmond Borough

Harrow Borough

Leatherhead

Lewes

Leyton

Northwood

Salisbury City

Slough Town

Team Bath

Tonbridge Angels

Weston-super-Mare

Windsor & Eton

Wingate & Finchley

Worthing

Yeading

(The above is on the basis we finish top six)

If we did not we are looking at something like this:

AFC Sudbury

Arlesey Town

Barton Rovers

Beaconsfield SYCOB

Berkhamsted Town

Boreham Wood

Buckingham Town

Burnham

Chesham United

Diss Town

Enfield Town

Great Wakering Rovers

Hemel Hempstead Town

Hertford Town

Ilford

Marlow

Oxford City

Thame United

Uxbridge

Waltham Forest

Wealdstone

Wivenhoe Town

Roll on the SYCOB!!!!!! We MUST finish top six!!

Hmmm that trip to Ilford sure does look mouth-watering...

Just one look at this proves why it's so vital we get top 6. I for one would certainly love trips to places like Bath, Dorchester, and Salisbury. It would also be great because Slough have not played a lot of those teams for ages, if ever.

If we fail to make the top 6, then we could be placed in the league quoted above, or conceivably this one, depending on the final geographical boundaries:

AFC Wimbledon

Ashford Town (Mx)

Bashley

Bideford

Bracknell Town

Brislington

Chichester City United

Cinderford Town

Cirencester Town

Clevedon Town

Egham Town

Mangotsfield United

Metropolitan Police

Molesey

Newport IoW

SLOUGH TOWN (instead of Staines)

Swindon Supermarine

Taunton Town

Walton & Hersham

Wimborne Town

Winchester City

Yate Town

I think I would prefer to be in this one.

Who and where are Yate Town? Christ we have got to finish top six. Although there are some long old journeys there whatever the league. That will be a test for our away support.

Of course the re-organisation may not take place....

Even in Conference days, Slough had a healthy away support - there was even 50 odd of us at Gateshead (although i'll admit i got so drunk at the nearby cheap pub can't remember much of the game). And Newport Isle of Wight sounds like a nice weekend away.

Just a spot of travelling then...

For that first league, Slough is well-positioned - roughly half-way between Folkestone and Weston-super-Mare!

For the other league selections, I think a journey to Newport IOW will be easy compared to Bideford (North Devon!). Can't imagine doing that run on a Tuesday night! (204 miles, ~4hrs each way!)

On a more serious note, how is promotion going to affect the club's finances? Obviously us fans will have to shell out more to travel further, but so will the club...

Thanks for that PJ. I can see why the Ryman are getting their knickers in a twist. The "promoted" top division really does us very little favours. But then having seen us tonight I don't think we have to "worry" about a top six finish.
