vauxhallman
Can any board member confirm our pre season friendlies as other clubs are publishing there's. Also any word on new players coming in or are the members being kept in the dark.
Tom S
Unless we're putting players on contract any announcement made now means nothing. Remember how Joe Ellul agreed to stay before getting a better offer?
The Crowing Cockerel
R.e. New Players How about George Sykes at Canvey Island? He won their Player of the Year, scored against us and lots of others despite being in a struggling team. Would be a useful addition.
PocketRocket
If you were Manager or a team leader would you announce your dealings 3 months before a season started? Alerting other clubs of possible player availability? Naive I'm happy to wait til the final pre season week as I'll still be in the Grandstand supporting, moaning, cheering and criticising, bit like I'm doing now
vauxhallman
No get the deal done first then announce but only if there on contract nothing naive in that and keeps the fans excited and up to date with whats going on in our club
MbrunoB
But putting someone on contract now would mean paying them with no current income.

MbrunoB
Just as well players weren't tied to contracts with today's news as the incoming manager will have his own ideas.

4wembleyfinals
Very sorry to hear of Brads departure. However it should not come as a great surprise. It must be obvious to all that the financial pressure on a fan based club, such as ours, must inevitable govern just how far it will go. Therefore, it is understandable, that after several years he has taken up Braintree's offer and in addition releaved himself of having to manage under the same restraints. I go back to an earlier submission of mine, made just after the announcement of the procurement of the new 99 new lease, that to sustain the ground you needed a team to support it. It seemed that we were on the way to achieving this but now I am starting to share VMan's view regarding going backwards. My deep concern is what funds the Board are willing to expend on a new manager,of similar calibre. From this you will be able to judge what their ambitions are.
