What with the match against Hitchin being re-scheduled for this forthcoming Saturday, has the friendly with Peterborough been postponed again??

Webbo should have it on the site. It was/is scheduled for this Thursday evening isn't it?

 

I was talking to the chap who used to drive the red tractor at Hitchin and he said that the re-arranged League game with Thurrock for next Tuesday, January 13th has been scrubbed because they have to play in the Essex Cup or something.

 

He didn't mention Peterborough 1st Team, however. Nor their Reserves.

I've just checked. The fixtures bit says that it's Thurrock next Tuesday. It's OFF.

 

For Heaven's sake, Webbo. Please read the Press Releases issued by The Club. What is the point if the Director of Media & Communications circulating this stuff and then you, the Director with Special Resposibility for the Information Superhighway not bothering to read it?

The bloke who drove the red tractor, I'm pretty sure, is still with the club. The guy you're referring to, is its owner, not driver.

Great, I could of got in a days O/T on the 13th but went not available so I could freeze by bollox off in Thurrock ..... and some poxy county cup game takes presidence!

And I was all geared up for the Peterborough friendly, I thought it was off when I noticed the board had changed outside the ground (next game The Wooood).

Maybe instead of waiting for press releases somebody could juct sit outside the ground waiting for the fixyure board to be changed.

I post a message at 1.30 pm to the effect that the Thurrock match, re-scheduled for next Tuesday is OFF as Thurrock have a County Cup fixture to be played that evening.

 

At 3.14 pm, some chap pretending to be the Match Secretary [£50,000 a year for taking the team-sheet from the Manager to the referee one hour before kick-off] comes on and announces that the Thurrock game is OFF as Thurrock have a County Cup committment. Now that's a surprise. Thanks very much.

 

Then we're invited to E-mail to check that a match is ON. O.K. O.K. I'll start the ball rolling.

The match scheduled to take place against Hitchin on Saturday at Top Field, ko 3.00 pm. As advertised. Is that one still on, old chap? If the reply is in the affirmative, just how regularly should we, the decreasing number of fans, continue to check the position with you? How would 10am and 4.30pm each day suit you. Don't want to cause any bother or inconvenience.

The Working Party [That's Working Party, not Committee] met at the beginning of November and circulated a Report to The Board on November 7th or so. The Report was considered at the next Board meeting late in November. The Report, 8 pages but every word a gem, was taken away for consideration by the members of the Board for consideration at the next Board meeting in January.

As you know, I have my suspicions that our red tractor and its various accoutrements, tea urn, p.a. equipment and the carved pumpkin may have found its way to another Ryman League, Premier Division club in middle Essex. Appropriate enquries will be made in due course.
