INs and OUTs

Great signing.

Will complement what we have up front, and another good option to Simon Dunn,if he is not available, or we want to add a physical edge to midfield.

A fit Brad Wadkins is better than just a battering ram, though and he is a quality addition to our squad. He will score goals from midfield.

Squad is shaping up nicely.

Certainly a different option to Dunny if he is not fit.

Agree that at his best he is a very good player but the clue is in your words  'a fit Brad Wadkins'.

You could ask the same question of Harrison Gilkes.

Are they both on schedule to start pre-season training with us on 1st July?

We believe Manny will be fine for July 1st but not Gilkesy unfortunately.

Manny's fracture has fully healed and he started jogging recently. He has to step up his training gradually but by the time we start training we are confident he will be able to join in fully.

During Gilkesy's rehab from his knee op an old hip problem has flared up. To fix this once and for all he had a minor op on Monday which went very well but this will now set him back slightly. He is hoping to be back training in August but we will know more in the next month or so. The good news is his knee has been given the all clear!

Agree, the squad is shaping up very nicely with most of the problem positions sorted with very good signings.

For me that just leaves one position to fill and the way it's gone so far I'm sure our managers will come up trumps.

That's why I said 'a fit Brad Wadkins' !

Think we all have recognise that playing on 3g isn't as helpful as playing on grass, when getting over injuries, or for older players who have a battle wounded body.

That said Arbour Park is a vast improvement on Holloways Park,in terms of the quality of passing football that can be played on it and it is obvious that in the last two seasons we have recruited higher quality players,in an effort to stabilise our position in the Premier division and push for promotion.

Our managers are doing a great job.

Looking at the four signings so far, I believe, though I may be proved wrong [it has been known ! ha ha!], that three out of the four will improve us on what we had last season.

Being a big fan of Mark Scott's goalkeeping ability, I know Jack Turner has big gloves to fill, for me to be won over.

Having only seen Jack play twice, I'm in no position to judge how good a goalkeeper he is,yet.

The Staines fans say he's quality, so let's hope that prove's to be the case.

On paper, he certainly appears to be a very able replacement for Mark and for me it will be a crucial role to how successful we are in the forthcoming season.

Roll on pre-season.

Apart from Brad Wadkins, I haven't seen any of our other 3 new signings play but if reports from their previous clubs/supporters are anything to go by I think that we should be stronger at the back than last season.

With some fierce competition at the heart of our defence in the shape of Guy, Nis, Innsy and Nathan Smart It'll be very interesting to see what center back partnership we finally go with.

If Brad Wadkins gets himself fit and has no reaction to his recent injury we should again see excellent competition for starting places up front which again is all very healthy a bodes well for the season.

In central midfield we currently have some very good ball players and IMO on good playing surfaces are amongst the best in the division.

For us to challenge for the title next season I think we need something different to the ball players that we currently have in central midfield.

For want of a better example a 'Darren Wilkinson' type of player to organize and do the dirty work when the going gets tough on those difficult pitches that we come across every season.

These types of players are a bit like gold dust but for me would be the last piece in the jigsaw for us to push for the title next season.

You mustn't have been at either match last season versus Chesham then. He totally nullified our attack both times, once as a DM and once at CB. He has everything a midfielder needs; passing, vision, tackling, strength, heading ability and good shooting.
