INs and OUTs

Recommended Posts

Scott has already said he won't be back playing any football until October at the earliest and it is doubtful that he would be ready to start playing fully again until the new year.

If Jack Turner does join he will be joining as No. 1. I have said earlier in this thread he would be an excellent addition and you just have to look at his twitter and the number of players saying he is the best GK they have played with. If he joins I would imagine it would be for the whole season with Scotty getting some loan time at the end of the season to get his fitness and confidence back ready to start the 18/19 season.

The elephant in the room is Mark Scott. We need a top goalkeeper and I dont believe any would join Slough on the basis that they are No1 until/ if Mark is fit and cleared to play again I believe we need to appoint a No1 who retains that position so long as his form doesnt desert him What do others think?

Irishadrian, for me there is no 'elephant in the room'.

It's pretty much a certainty that Mark Scott will not be ready to play a game of football until next year at the very earliest.

IMO Mark Scott will have a lot of barriers to overcome not just physically but mentally and the eventual outcome could be decided by the advice he'll be given by a specialist.

Either way I'm sure that any keeper that signs for us will be signing as our number one and will remain our number one as long as Bakes and Unders are happy with his performances.

If it is to be Jack Turner personally I haven't seen him play and can only go by what people have said about him on Twitter which are pretty much 100% complementary.

Perhaps SRJ can enlighten us as to how good he thinks Jack Turner is?

RR  Thats exactly what my last sentence says . We must appoint a No1 GK  who will keep the position as long as his form doesnt  decline  regardless of  what else may occur. There has been a lot of talk about when Mark will return but like you I think that may be a long time or never at his previous level    Of course I hope Mark does come back  Ive praised his performances often enough over the years  but we have to deal in the here and now .

Jack TURNER – goalkeeper

A former Staines Town and SBSS junior at a young age, he was then with Chelsea and Fulham before joining the AFC Wimbledon ‘School of Excellence’. Was the second choice ’keeper at Kingsmeadow for the final three seasons in the Conference Premier and their first in the nPower League 2 when he made a handful of senior appearances, prior to his return to Staines as one of Marcus Gayle’s first summer signings in 2012.  Proudly wears a pink goalkeeping shirt, to support his mother’s cancer awareness campaign.  Last season he won both the Players’ and Supporters’ Player of the Year Awards at Wheatsheaf Park, and also netted his first senior goal!

That is the description of him from Staines Town FC

He is not the tallest of goal keepers but is very acrobatic and can cover his goal very well. He was only one of 5 goal keepers to stop maidenhead scoring this season.

With a more solid defence in front of him (than Staines') he will keep a lot of clean sheets and will probably be seen as one of the best in the league and a huge asset to any team looking for promotion.

As you say he doesn't look the tallest of keepers although his description does say he's 6ft 2???.

Looking at an interview he's given he say's he's leaving Staines because he wants to join a club that will be in the play-offs and winning the league but also states that he is 'open to offers'.

I doubt he will be short of offers.

Neil and Jon have always had good goal keepers in their squad so I'm sure whoever they do bring in will be an excellent player.

With the greatest respect to Mark Scott, he shouldn't rush back, or should we put any pressure on him to get back.

He needs to get over his bad injury and be 100% in mind and body before coming back to the rigours of the game.

No one is writing him off but we still need a good goalkeeper between the sticks in the meantime, if Slough want to challenge again this season.

Agree with what you say 3spirit except to add that if we want to challenge for the title next season we'll need a 'very good keeper between the sticks'.

Massively disagree! Salisbury and Hereford budget in particular with their crowd bases, absolute certainty they will be in the shake up!

We will see!!

You were 50% wrong there, Sloughboy because Salisbury didn't get promoted !  :)

Judging by the reactions and comments on social media and their forum from K,s fans this will be a first class addition to tbe squad and still in his early twenties.

Surprise move in bringing a 34 year old centre back to the club. Maybe we're due to lose/release a centre back to accommodate? Alan is very experienced at this and the level above and hopefully he'll bring leadership qualities including shouting and geeing up the players.

  1. me too... new job though means travelling a struggle

as you say a bit strange. Even  more so as per his comment above on his twitter account regarding travelling. Maybe the managers have something different lined up for him?
