INs and OUTs

Recommended Posts

If no one else signs and obviously pre-season could make a big difference but this is the starting line up I'd expect based on 4-4-2 formation:

Turner: Wells, Inns, Nisbet, Fraser: Dobson, Dunn, Lench, Harris: Flood, James.

I don't see that team, you've picked, as the first eleven at all.

I think it very much depends on the system you are looking to play and the form of each player.

To me I wouldn't pander to lofty egos. With the squad we've got, we need to utilise it.

If a player is not on form, they are not in the team, simple.

Last season especially towards the end of it we overfavoured players imo.

I'm not saying we should chop and change personnel every game but what I am saying is even the best players we have in terms of experience, don't play well all the time and their starting place shouldn't be guaranteed.

Well RR, I'm very happy with the five signings we've made for the new season but only time will tell whether they will all be success stories for our team. That is the case every season regardless of what players are signed.

I have agreed with all the departures, too. To me the management have made the right calls in personel changes, although I would probably have brought another striker in and strengthened the midfield, later in the season but what do I know I'm only a spectator.

To be honest, I know of Matt Lench but am unaware of what his amazing football skills are yet. Regardless of the goals he has scored against Slough,he wasn't among the Hitchin players that caught my eye,in the matches we have played them.

So I'll tell you by February 2018, whether I rate him ! ha ha !

With your uncanny eye for talent 3spirit I'm a bit surprised, in the games that we've played Hitchin, that you haven't picked up upon very possibly Hitchin's best player with only the ginger one coming close.

Why thank you, RR, sometimes I get it right.

Last season I only saw Hitchin once, that was our home game.

That particular game Hitchin's Ben Walster stood out for me.

Trouble is spotting a real talent, you need to see them more than once otherwise it could just be a one off fluke, although without meaning to be big headed, I'm not bad at spotting potential players.Largely depends what areas/qualities you're looking for.

3spirit - 100% agree with all of that said a couple of posts above.

SRJ - having seen Egham a fee times this season and knowing how big of a step up Central to Prem is, neither Mathews or Pashaj are good enough IMO.

The 2 players Id like to see as a starting point are Ryan Blake from Chesham, can play wing and up front, is quick and strong and scores goals. The other is Tom Broadbent from Hayes and Yeading. A very tall, imposing centreback who is quick, strong and good in the air.

Redwine - at the original time of Scotty's injury he was told at least Oct/Nov to start training, then i would say he'll need at least a month or so of training and games before making a return. Id be surprised if we see him before the new year (and in fairness he might have all intentions of coming back, but that first time he has to go down at the feet of an attacker will tell everything and probably be the defining moment for him).

Slough Flyer,

Credit where credit is due, seems you were right about Tom Broadbent of Hayes and Yeading, as he has earned himself a one year deal with Bristol Rovers.

I'm amazed, having seen him a few times myself last season I thought he was one of H and Y's better players but no way did I see anything, to think he would get signed by a pro club. To me he dropped too many gaffe's for that.

Will be interested to see if they can eradicate his blunders and improve his all round game for that level.

Anyway SF, well done for your talent spotting !
