INs and OUTs

I have, but didn't recall him.

Looked back to see and he didn't play at our place in 2015/6, and found this clip of him finishing well against us in November 2014:-

His goal is around the 3 minute 55 second point.

The season just finished in the P/O final he scored Hitchin's only goal in the 2-1 defeat, A 50 yarder top corner (lol) 3-05 into the highlights.

I know Matt Lench is highly rated, and the fact he coming from a team that rival's Slough for promotion.is a real coup for our club.

Can't wait to see all the new signings in action.

So your a bit happier with Matt Lench signing than Sam Youngs or Ryan Blake 3spirit?

For me, although I would have been happy if we'd signed Sam Youngs, I think the signing of Matt Lench takes it to a whole new level.

The fact a big Conference National side offered him a full time contract says it all. I wonder if that's now the door closed on signings or there may be another before the big KO. Also there could be player(s) leaving...

My hunch is that will be the end of the signings with possibly only some trialists being invited for pre-season training.

Of the defenders, if Jesse Wilson and Josh Jackman want to stay with us they will possibly be duel registered leaving 6 defenders to fight it out for 4 places.

In midfield Harrison Gilkes won't be ready until someway into the season, that leaves 6 midfielders one of which IMO will leave us looking for first team football.

I was under the impression Gilkes was now fully recovered from his injury and would have a full pre-season to get match fit?

Our managers have previously said that Harrison Gilkes has had a set back. Not the injury that kept him out last season but another for which he has had a minor op which will delay his comeback.

If no one else signs and obviously pre-season could make a big difference but this is the starting line up I'd expect based on 4-4-2 formation:

Turner: Wells, Inns, Nisbet, Fraser: Dobson, Dunn, Lench, Harris: Flood, James.

Glennie, I'd brace yourself because when someone dear to you reads your team selection you could be in for some serious stick   ;)

I think there are quite a few places up for grabs all over the park and until pre season is over I wouldn't like to say what our starting 11 will be.

Competition for a starting place is the fiercest I've seen for a number of years.

Well RR, I'm very happy with the five signings we've made for the new season but only time will tell whether they will all be success stories for our team. That is the case every season regardless of what players are signed.

I have agreed with all the departures, too. To me the management have made the right calls in personel changes, although I would probably have brought another striker in and strengthened the midfield, later in the season but what do I know I'm only a spectator.

To be honest, I know of Matt Lench but am unaware of what his amazing football skills are yet. Regardless of the goals he has scored against Slough,he wasn't among the Hitchin players that caught my eye,in the matches we have played them.

So I'll tell you by February 2018, whether I rate him ! ha ha !
