A midfield 3 of Adam Martin, Simon Dunn and Manny Williams would be good enough to win the league.

Each to their own but for me Adam Martin is not the type of player we want or need now for Slough to progress.

Not saying Adam Martin cannot do a half decent job for a Premier division team but for me he isn't the type of player we need in our current midfield.

This season I'm not convinced that we need the hard man Darren Wikinson type that Reading Rebel has mentioned.

I would rather we add a hardworking bustling, chasing down centre midfielder in the mould of a Ryan Hope. Someone not afraid to get stuck in but has a good all round game and someone who brings heightened energy to the field of play. This would be ideal on 3g and those dreaded winter pitches

'hard working, bustling, chasing down center midfielder, someone not afraid to get stuck in, has a good all round game and energy'

If that's not  a description of Darren Wilkinson I don't know what is.

You have literally described Adam Martin

Not sure what Adam Martin you're watching ! It's not the one I've seen.

Adam Martin will not be rejoining us at the club.

We hope to announce one further signing in the next week or so, and one we are delighted to be getting on board, might not be what you are expecting, however we will review where we are when the pitches worsen later on in the season, in terms of squad personnel.

Yes Darren did play like that but what I was trying to get at, was that I don't see that we currently need the holding midfield enforcer.

To me we could do with someone willing to do a lot of running and do a lot of the donkey work, so it frees up others. I would be on the look out for an up and comer around the age of 22-23 as a squad player to develop.

These sort of players are always under rated in any team because often it is an unglamourous role and a lot of their work goes unseen.

That was what I liked about Nathan Poulton in the first place, when I first saw him play as a young man..He was willing to make an effort in closing down players and wasn't trying to be the star of the show. He was more than just a wprkhorse and seemed very lively and commited to the cause. His passing was good but he wasn't trying to be too clever. He did the basic's well.

If we are to go with someone more experienced to add to our current midfield, then perhaps Nathan Poulton would be a good choice, I also thought that Dean Hitchcock at Kings Langley looked a sound player.

I'm sure Bakes and Unders know a lot more players than I do and are on the ball when it comes to any signings.

They've not let us down yet and I trust their judgement.

I see Dylan Kearney has just left Hayes & Yeading and is talking to a club but won't say who yet.

Glen, Dylan Kearney could hardly make the starting 11 for H&Y so IMO would be nowhere near good enough for us.

Whilst on the subject of good players leaving clubs, I see that Billy Crook has left Enfield Town destination unknown. Now he's what I call a player and one I'd love at Slough.

Billy Crook is surely heading to Braintree FC.

Dylan Kearney is young and enthusiastic but not for us, I don't believe. Having watched Hayes and Yeading fc in a few games last season, Dylan struggled to make an impact working under the ex Kings Langley managers but got more of a look in under Micky Lewis. You couldn't fault Dylan's keeness to take part but he is still green round the edges.

He ought to look to a club in the Central league where he can get full season under his belt and develop under a knowledgeable manager.

Back at Chesham, there are three players who have been offered improved terms but have yet to say yes to signing up, they are Adam Martin, Ryan Blake and Sam Youngs.

Of those three the player that interests me most and IMO would be a great asset to us would be Sam Youngs, a classy attacking midfielder who won players player of the season.

Out of those three I'd go for Ryan Blake.

Personally I thought Sam Youngs was overrated but I've only seen him in a few games, unlike the Chesham faithful who voted him player of the season.

To me he seemed a bit of a prima-donna ! Just not the type of player I prefer.

If we needed a striker I would agree but we are looking to bring in an attacking midfielder and Sam Youngs is highly rated by Chesham supporters and TBF they have seen him play a lot more than you or I.

Who says we are looking for an attacking midfielder?

I know Sam Youngs is rated highly at Chesham but for me I wouldn't be looking for him to come into our squad.

Bakes and Unders may have other ideas and might be tempted to go after him. That's up to them.

I would rather count Manny Williams as an attacking midfielder and go with 4 strikers to start the season with. Hence why I would sign Ryan Blake.

Then the only other player I would look for the new season is a young livewire centre midfielder.

Unless I was dreaming it I'm sure that before we signed Brad Wadkins Bakes said that they were looking at 2 attack minded players. We are not looking at another striker so the obvious position is an attacking midfielder.
