With the loss last night signalling the end of our 16/17 season Neil and Jon can start building a squad for next season knowing which league/level we will be playing at.

 

 

It also signals the start of player transfer rumours.

 

 

Going by his twitter post It seems like Lewis Putman is the first to leave the club.

It does indeed, I think his contract was up at the end of this season.....I do feel a little for Puts as on his day he is a very good player but with Gilkesy to come in and the season Dobbo has had you can see why

 

P.s Im not sure if Gilkes is left or right

Gilkes was playing on both wings during pre season

Have to feel sorry for Putts who has had a stop start season due to injuries and due to Dobbo's form has found game time limited. I think we could see Putts pop up at a club at a higher level, certainly got the talent for it.

 

A bit surprised with Stoney leaving. I don't think we've seen the best of Stoney this season again possibly due to some recurring injuries. With a good injury free pre-season I thought Stoney could have come back to his best next season.

 

Not surprised about Gary Gokman leaving, he just wasn't getting the game time. 

 

Not surprised about Callum Bunting, I'd say Callum is certainly one for the future.

Must say I didn't expect Stonehouse to be released. The other 3 (Putnam, Bunting & Gokmen) totally expected. Obviously a goalkeeper is a certainty as is someone to take Stoney's place unless Josh Jackman will be given a go as he's highly rated by our managers. I think we'll adding some steel into the midfield with possibly another winger and at least one striker.

Glen, Josh Jackman is primarily a right back. If we're going to make a fist of it for the title next season I don't think we can afford to play players out of their natural positions.

 

Not sure we need another winger if we've got Wazza, Dobbo and Gilkes.

Personally I'm not so surprised about stoney. I don't think we've seen the same player throughout most of the season as we did during his loan spells last year. This may well be down to injuries in part to be fair. In terms of all 4 players to be released, funnily enough I am most surprised by gok as he's seemed like a guy who is happy to be a squad member for which he has been an excellent option for us off the bench for the last 2 and a half years.

 

Having said all that, i would thank all 4 of them for their efforts in a slough shirt and wish them all the best for the future!!!

Not surprised about any of those that have left so far. Gary has been a heck of a club guy in his time with us and im sure he will get a good spot in a Central league team if he wants it. Putts wasnt really top end southern league quality IMO and his injuries havent helped. Along with Dobbos form and Gilkes coming back in no spot for him is right. Bunting needs more time at the lower level, but having seen quite abit of him i hope this isnt the last we see of him. Stoney was obviously hampered by injuries, perhaps more than we realised, but im not surprised he has left as he clearly needs to either try and get fully fit, or perhaps he will call it a day.

 

Looking forward to hearing about some new signings in due course as i think we have the opportunity from the foundations we have built this season to really push on and develop the squad even more.

Now it is official I'm not surprised with Putman and Bunting leaving/released. Putman never redound the form he showed last season, plus every team now know who he is and how to deal with him. Bunting failed to make an impression in his limited chances and with hopefully Flood, James and possibly Barney I think he would find it hard to break into the squad next season.

 

I am happy and sad about Gokmen. On one hand I am sad he was never given a proper chance and I would love for him to be given that chance at Slough but in the other hand I am happy he now gets a chance to move and actually play some football. He has shown the loyalty that any fan across the country ask for.

 

I am surprised by Stonehouse as even though he didn't quite show the same quality as in his initial loan spell he is still a solid player and will be hard to replace.

Bunting probably feels hard done by as he never had the minutes to prove his worth. He must have something about him for our managers to sign him plus he had a couple of trials at FL clubs. He may be one of those that in a few years time may be playing at a much higher level.
