We've launched the new Slough Town Open community foot golf event.

It's open to everyone as well as STFC supporters and Trust members so please spread the word, we're hoping to get lots of secondary schools/colleges, businesses, community groups and sports clubs etc involved, so get a team together and sign up!

Was so looking forward this only to find out I've got pre-arranged engagement (well Wedding actually!) on the same day. Hopefully it'll be a success and another one can be organised.

Call me daft but what is foot golf?

You kick a football around a specially designed golf course using the rules of golf.

 

And yes the holes are football sized.

 

So basically golf with a football and your own legs instead of golf clubs

Glen we've already said between us and our foot golfer contact that it would be great to make it an annual event, but even do need this year's event to be successful for that to be considered.

Yes unfortunately our pre season campaign was organised a while back and starts on that morning, and then there will be a trial game in the afternoon, so unable to make it.

We're pleased to say that Space Station have offered to sponsor a hole at the Open. If you know if any businesses or individuals that could be interested in doing the same, please get in touch via the Trust email.

Tom Wiliiams has signed for Cambridgeshire foot golf club in Milton

 

"We always knew we could latch on to the professional game but it needed to get to a certain level first and now we have both UK and professional tours we’ve reached that level. (Williams) is going to be the most high-profile signing that a club in the UK has made though.And May, who also plays for Cambridge and Cambridgeshire, said that his arrival is also big news for the club and County, who Williams is also eligible to play for, as they go to defend their National champion’s crown."

Arras just to let you know I handed over the poster you gave me to the people who bring in the day centre clients to the Montem gym on Monday mornings (these are not Slough Active staff who you have already emailed). There is some interest there.

4 weeks to the event, so please help us out by sharing the posts on twitter and facebook.  We really want this to be a success, so please get a few people together and enter a team - no experience necessary, the best 3 scores from each team go on the leaderboard so it doesn't matter if you don't think you'd be very good! A few of us have tried it out and it's good fun and we weren't as bad as we thought we would be!

With the event in less than 2 weeks, we're using the sponsorship from Space Station to offer a free team place in our competition, details on socal media.

One week to go, we have 8 teams signed up but it would be great to get some more.  If you see the posts on social media please help us by sharing them to give us a push in the final week before the event, and you can still sign up a team of 3-5, or if you don't have a team you can contact us and see if we can get some more together from individuals.
