Performances / results in the last couple of weeks has indicated to me, although improvement this season, we as a club are not ready for the league above. I hear constant rallying from the gaffers 'we go again' / 'unacceptable' etc.... but again, our end of season (2nd half season syndrome) kicked in. On a positive, win our next four games, we go up :)

Saying that, now, I am thinking, would another solid season in this league next season do us better than hoping we go up and struggle in league above?

As a club, we have come on leaps and bounds this season (average attendances, safe from relegation by Christmas, new home back in Slough), so all positive.

It is just our usual tendency to take our foot of the pedal from March onwards that worries me.

In the words of the gaffers ..... we go again Monday !!!

CR, if we were to get promoted who's to say we would struggle? In a higher division I would imagine we would be able to recruit players that would enable us to at least have a good chance on consolidating at that level as per when we got promoted to the Southern Prem.

Not sure we've taken our foot off the pedal. We've hit a poor patch of form which happens to some teams at this stage of the season.

Should we presume Harrison Gillkes won't be involved this season as there was talk a while back of possible inclusion?

Harrison Gilkes hasn't kicked a ball in anger all season because of the serious injury he picked up in the pre season game at Fleet.

He seems to be coming along nicely and personally I see no sense in risking him in our remaining few games.

RR Certainly not relying on it just pointing out that its time the "bogey team" nonsense was put to rest Sometimes you can "psych" yourself into trouble. Good time to mention our final teams form Redditch have 1 win this year played 15 won 1 drew 3 lost 11 just 6 points from 45 Tell us why we shouldnt be confident about this one!

As disappointing as that performance was IMO now is not the time for recriminations.

We know from what we've seen and produced this season that we are a very good team so for me now is the time for us to get behind the players and give them our full support in the remaining two games starting at Chesham on Monday.

I think we need to get the Chesham game out of the way first before we start to think about the Redditch game but just to say IMO after today's game I think any talk of winning a game due to a teams poor form should be banned from this forum   ;)

Totally agree RR I think we need 3 points to be sure of the playoffs taking into account the games others have to play Ive never believed we needed a home play off game No other team in the top 5 could beat us on their pitch and 2 beat us on ours In fact we have lost more home games than any of the top 5 When we were promoted to this league we did so by beating Rugby and Kettering away Neil/Jon proved their ability to motivate the team when it really mattered and can do so again imo.

DJD, the season is over 46 games not a half dozen. If we make the play-offs we will have deserved to.

The voice of reason speaks and I agree. My rant was basically a "if we blow it from here....." my concern is that this, on paper, was the easiest game we had left and we utterly utterly screwed it. Have to agree with the Nathan webb comment it's square pegs in round holes if he is part of the strongest xi then we need to change formation, go narrow and have dobbo in front of a midfield 3.

Having had the night to sleep on the result, if at the start of the season you said to any Slough fan that we would finish in the top quarter of the league after last years 17th they would have bit your hand off for that chance.

Frustration is after having a cracking season and been sat in 1st and 2nd place for a good period of it, to now be having to fight to stay in the playoff places feels that things have not gone to plan and we are under performing.

As RR says it is a 46 game season and overall we have exceeded expectations, just would be nice to finish the season to the standard that we know that can be delivered.

Not sure Cirencester was our easiest game left. They were fighting for their survival in this league and it showed in their effort and commitment.

If Warren Harris was fit to play I don't think we'd be having a conversation about fitting a square peg into a round hole.

Is kicking the ball away still a bookable offence as there player not only kicked it away but put it into row z.

We do when we still have players who are natural in that position and don't get played.
