Arbour Park latest 6/4/17

I got a little look at the bar on Saturday. It looks alright. It is behind the seats on the main stand, facing out towards the pitch. Looks like there are seating areas either side. I saw four pumps - Fosters, Heineken and Guiness. The fourth didn't have label but will probably be cider I imagine.

Disappointing for any real ale drinkers.

Perhaps the club can get some boxes of Rebellion for the people who like real ale on tap?

While the club was running the bar last year, it made much more sense to have bottles and cans that would last from match to match and could be purchased in bulk, compared to small kegs which would go off between one game and the next if not finished. Steve would turn up with his car loaded up with cartons containing bottles and cans on the morning of each game having been to the cash and carry.

From now on, as Mark has said, I believe it's a council run bar, so it's whatever they get from their deal with whoever is providing the drinks and not to do with the club.

You also have to remember we as a club are not the only ones with access to the bar, it will be open for a lot of other things so it only makes sense for the council to stock it with drinks which a majority of people will drink so that they can make more money.

One thing which would be great is if the council let the club put up advertising posters around the bar to encourage more people who use the stadium to come to matches. I don't know if something has already been agreed like this but hopefully it is something that can happen

So, from those comments, is it fair to assume that the Council has appointed an agent to run the bar and keep all the proceeds.

And if so, was there no option for the Club to consider being the agent and running the bar and keeping all the proceeds?

Hoping the council are sensible and not charge outrageous prices, after all it's not in their interests to turn away captive punters. Just hoping (although guessing not) they install tv's with Sky and/or BT so us fans can watch live football before or after a game.

I can't speak for the club Curtis, however from my own personal thoughts, if you want to run the bar and take all the proceeds you then have to pay someone to run it. We will probably never know what deal has been made with the council, we should just enjoy being at home in a completed top of the line new facility.

The whole idea was once AP was finished the council would have an outside management company come in and run the AP on a full time basis.

They were advertising for a site manager a few months back so I would assume that both parts are now in place ready to start from Wednesday.

The mini barrels from Rebellion hold 22 pints and last for three weeks once opened. So even if they are not finished after one game I'm sure it will be finished at the next home. They do four different ales in mini barrels each month, also as it's members night at the brewery tonight I will be have a few there...

I was there at the opening wearing my business hat and very impressed with the facility from the other point of view - i.e. a non fans. SBC and Steve did a good job of presenting both the facility for community/business use and sponsorship opportunities. Much as I would have liked Roy's visit to have been open for "proper football fans" we have to admit that for the stadium to work for us it has to be successful commercially.

As AP is primarily a sports venue it wouldn't make sense not to have Sky/BT installed.

As for the price of a pint would anything below £4 be seen as a reasonable price to pay?
