Arbour Park latest 6/4/17

I just love the amount of mindless speculation - it is almost as worthless as the silly "I think the team should be..." posts we get before each game.  Neil and Jon don’t take any notice of the wild team selections, and I suspect that Steve will take the same level interest in all the expert lawyers and negotiators that have now popped up to interrogate this agreement.

Neil and Jon know what they are up too – look at the results on the pitch, Steve knows what he is up too as the club is in it’s most healthy state for many decades.

Clive, common sense would tell most people that Bakes and Unders don't take any notice of supporters team selections. I know you have difficulty in grasping it but It's only a bit of fun.

I've kept my counsel on this for quite a while. For me it's pretty simple SBC have built a stadium for us with an expectation of a partnership and community engagement and this is just laying out what it means. For the most part not only is having this great stadium in Slough entirely to our benefit, so are the terms of this agreement

  • Rent - that's stupidly low for what we're getting
  • Most sports clubs would love to have the access to future supporters and players that the schools talks and free tickets will bring about and to be able to that with SBC sanction will really help. Leave aside that any modern sports club should be engaging with the community in this way just because it's the right thing to do.
  • Encouraging volunteering is already an ingrained part of the way the club works
  • Sharing bar etc profits seems eminently better than having a private company take all those profits (which frankly felt the way it was going.)

We sometimes talk about the best managers or players down the years - if Steve manages to finalise this partnership after the move back home and bringing in a management team that have got us back on the road on the pitch he will definitely be the best chairman we've ever had.

I'm delighted for Scott and the Chalvey boys - the success they and the Lynchpin have had is great for local grassroots football and they are not far off playing the likes of Burnham and Windsor every week. I hope it's the start of a good partnership.

I read that Chalvey Sports topped the Hellenic Div 2 East last season (level 11) but weren’t promoted because of ground requirements..... Burnham and Windsor are currently two divisions above them in the Hellenic Premier.

I'm not surprised it's losing money when you completely run out of any decent beer for the biggest home gate of the season and have to queue 15 minutes to be told that.
