Arbour Park latest 6/4/17

The problem is that report isn’t clear, it says the council will retain income from kids season tickets, then further down it states the club keeps all match day operations income including season tickets. I wonder how all these requirements stack up against other clubs in similar arrangements, just curious to know if it’s the norm? Also looking at it from a council point of view would you want volunteers/inexperienced staff handling a function you’ve arranged?

I wouldn't take anything from the report as probable fact without reading the actual document.

If you read the report in isolation you only get their slant on it, right or wrong.

Also the report is basically a headline, so you see fractions of the whole message.

For example : STFC to cover catering for other events.

Instead of : STFC to cover ONLY if the client wants catering when they book their session.

Araas Isn't the difference that currently the cash goes to the club and not SBC? Horsham Rebel is substantially correct SBC have set out their wish list/proposals and we must carefully consider what is OK and what we would prefer to pass on Then some serious negotiation is called for. We have the advantage of already being at Arbour Park In the past homelessness or the prospect of homelessness has seen us agree to some truly terrible deals IMO.

I know I just found it very interesting reading just a shame not all the facts are there but as you say we won’t have access to the finer details. Obviously if the big hurdles like staffing can be overcome then it seems the club could bring in additional income on match days which can only be good.

The report clearly says the income from the schemes would 100% go to the council, do for now you have to assume that is what would happen.

The Child season ticket would not make the club or council money as it pretty much just covers the cost of all the things it includes; shirt, photo, birthday card and other things.

The club might not make any money from the entry fee but would keep any money they spend inside the ground. Food and drink and any souvenirs they get from the club shop. The club will make money from this as well.

Just to clear up what Glenn is asking, if we sell tickets for a fiver to parents this is matchday income, and would not go to the council, same as the £30 child season tickets which goes to the club, but as someone said they get a shirt, so effectively the season ticket is free/next to nothing, but again the £30 still goes to the club.

The above is a stipulation to try and keep and generate as much interest in football amongst kids and families, thus creating the community element, but this is something the club has been doing anyway.

Just hang fire on speculation, as Steve is away currently and when things are fully agreed and signed no doubt there will be a statement (as always), and I can assure you that him John and Kay have been working with the council on this for a while now, and this is seen as a very positive step for the club....

Appreciate some clarification Neil. Although I’m surprised you didn’t mention the clause where it said the management team will ‘offer’ 50% of their wages to the council?

What? I've read through it several times and not seen anything like it. All I see is the players and managers being asked to provide coaching etc to the community.

Have not had time to read the full document yet but as is stated 2(i) " That the terms of the agreement PROPOSED be agreed."

As previously stated by others this is SBC's opening proposal. The club will now need to review this and decide what is commercially viable and what is not.

For example we can not be expected to provide catering facilities for a function that will not generate a profit. This is covered in 5.2.1  where hirers will have the choice of using their own caterer for food and drinks provision but if they wish food and drink to be SOLD, STFC will then provide the service sharing 50% of the profit generated.

Similarly in 5.2.2 with regard to the 18month period it should not only be for SBC to decide if changes to the agreement are required. STFC should also have the right to decide if terms need reviewing.

Having worked on many agreements in the past this will not be the finished version. There will undoubtedly be extra clauses STFC will require inserted that SBC have not even considered. (maybe even provision of Sky or BT sport haha)

The Trust will also need to discuss with the club the Trusts commitment to this agreement as well particularly with regard to provision of volunteers etc.

We should not refrain from comments about this proposal but we should also ask ourselves what would we do if we owned our own club and how would we manage this to generate income to enable investment in the growth of the club and also support the aim of including the whole community in a successful football club.

It's nice to continue following this thread as it is rather similar to what is happpening at Meadowbank, Dorking.

1.  A club playing at a council owned/run ground is going to meet lots of operational problems on match day.

2. The TV issue could be a problem.  First, the council has to AGREE to TV screens in the club house..  If they agree, I'm sure they would charge more for their use on Sloughs match day, especially if the are going to prove Sky coverage etc.

3. Remember, the Council will undoubtably be appointing their own/contract catering staff which will negate any money flowing into your clubs coffers.

Since the demise of Dorking F.C. this season, the possible problems facing the Meadowbank ground don't affect me.  I'm lucky enough to have 'contacts' within Mole Valley council, and even the outsiders there don't seem to be reliably informed or up-dated.  I think it's the 'mushroom syndrome' otherwise the 'need to know' dilemma
