Perspective....

I regularly say i don't like the way teams play on their own pitches as many resort to punting the ball and hoping they can get behind us.

Our downfall is we like to pass the ball quickly on these poorer pitches.

That is just home advantage.

Yes i would like to see us have a different option occasionally, as we did when Manny was just behind our striker giving us a more direct approach.

However the plus side is we get to watch quality flowing attacking football at home and on other decent pitches.

We were poor yesterday but in our defense if the ref hadn't have bottled the decision in the first few minutes we would have had a penalty, maybe missed lol, but they would have been down to 10.

In summary....

Rebel Warblers (a rare breed only found in South East Berkshire) - update. A friend of mine is a Reading season ticket holder and on occasion when Reading are away, Slough are at home and time permits he comes along to cheer on the Rebels. We spoke last night about the collective poor results over the weekend. He visits the Slough FC Twitter site and told me how much he enjoyed the short videos of the Warblers giving voice on the way home Saturday evening. Since he sometimes gets involved in the entertainments at the local village hall I enquired as to whether he would be interested in recommending the Warblers give a concert there sometime. He politely declined but sends everyone his best wishes for ultimate success this season. COYRW!

Only thing I will say on that Ade is how did Kettering play??? All they did was turn us round by smashing 50/60 yard balls into space, occasionally they would pass it, and why is that, because you can't pass the ball on those pitches without it bobbling up round your knees etc, few times we tried to play in and around their box, and every time we end up losing the ball because of the surface.... only way to win those games is being direct and taking your chances... could have been two or three up at half time, in which case we would not be having this conversation.....

Stan is right we have to cleat this mental block as soon as we can, we have to get in front in these games, however we haven't.... just look recently, Biggleswade, Frome, Cinderford, Kettering... can you honestly say we have deserved to lose all those games ?

Anyway three games to go and we need to try and get 7 points from them which I believe will give us third place.

One thing I picked up from one of Jon's interview's was that we train at Arbour Park.

When we are playing away, not on a 3g pitch, wouldn't it be better to train on grass for the game ahead?

Someone pointed out that we are missing Manny Williams creativity, while I agree he has been a relevation for us since he arrived, I don't see that point as the reason for our bad form away from home.

Neil has said previously that the squad was put together in the main to be able to play well on 3g. Here lies the problem.

The way I look at it, is that this season was always going to be a learning curve for the managers and the team.

We've had a remarkable turnaround from where we finished in the table last season and no fan should be unhappy with the progress we have made on the field of play.

However,as with all season's, our squad will need personnel changes for whatever division we are in next season. The good thing is we have no need to make huge changes to our squad but I think we will have to be mindful of the type of player we need, to address the thorny issue of our poor form on surfaces other than 3g.

Of course we can not have two different teams playing on two different surfaces but we can adapt our style for certain games and change the way we are looking to play, if we add the right players to the mix that we have.

I can see three areas were we can strengthen for next season, with this in mind but it can keep till after the season has ended.

Cannot disagree with a lot you've said there 3spirit.

Without changing our philosophy of having players who can and like to play attractive football, for me we just need to add some 'steel' to the team to take us to the next level.

It's not just about 'steel',  though I agree RR, we do have to address this issue.

I take it, RR, you were at the Kettering match. How many shots did we have?

Someone on the furum seemed to suggest that the Kettering goalkeeper was largely redundant. Was he?

I make no judgement about the Kettering game,as I wasn't there. From what I've read on here, the Slough fc website and Twitter, we appear to have had a better first half than did in the second.

Having Warren Harris missing wouldn't have helped either.

I think we are unfortunate that the crucial part of the season is coming to a head but our team is having a crisis of confidence and are not as fluent as they have been but this is completely understandable as we have lost key personnel at the wrong time of year.

Our most experienced players will need to start step up to the plate and the team has to rally round each other and fight for everything. I want to see our team giving it their all.  If we do that, we can win our last three games and have success in the play offs.

If they don't , it's another season in the Southern Premier.
