Frome away 25th March

Recommended Posts

Kirk you are an embarrassment!!! To be honest Banbury still have to play Leamington, Hitchin Kettering Cinderford and Hayes and Yeading, so for me if they were to even get 10 points it would be an impressive haul... awful game yesterday tbh not helped by the conditions, same for both teams, and both teams were poor, however I thought we were better than them still, and knocked on the door more than they did.... Shaun had one save late on and the goal, other than that he hardly touched it.

Frome were, frankly, shocking all biff and no finesse. Why you'd want to watch them week in week out baffles me. Incessant fouling and spoiling tactics, their goalkeeper was nominated MOM, which says a lot for the rest! In reality the general conditions were awful, despite the pitch looking as good as Wembley from the sidelines and they've obviously "honed" their play to suit. Their hoofing tactics led to the ball being constantly out of play and then thay scored with their one effort on target (might have been their only effort). We manfully struggled to create and it became clear that the Frome hoodoo was going to prevail, especially when the penalty was awarded (not sure what for) and the ball moved from the spot as Dobbo took it, thereby hitting the post.

I fail to see why anyone on here doubts our players' committment, because they once again put in a great shift, but as we've seen at Biggleswade, St. Ives and Cinderford you need a bit of luck too. However, we do need to find a way of getting something from such places even if it's only a point. Five draws instead of defeats would have given us a much stronger position at this point.

As I said "The pitch will be its usual bog and the Frome tactics will be hoof the ball long and foul, then intimidate the ref with their usual thuggish charm." Thank you Bernie for confirming my prediction.

R1965 Apart from the ground being a bog that is.

The pitch was the best we've seen there in years, with all of it being dry.

It was still a very bad pitch with divots everywhere maki g the ball do anything but go where it should of, then add the strong diagonal wind on to that.

And the expected racist comments - certainly not where I was standing at the end we were defending in the 2nd half. I noticed yesterday the comments you posted on the Hereford FC site in January. Whilst we are all distasteful of such issues as happened at the Didcot game I agree with Sitting Bull that you comments were a sweeping generalisation. My Brother-in-Law who many will know from his years supporting the Rebels now supports Herford having lived nearby for over 30 years. He is the nicest, quietest bloke you can imagine and along with the vast majority of Hereford Supporters totally rejects the behaviour of the few idiots. I am glad that you are pleased with yourself having saved £30. Despite the poor game and the result I am pleased I went.

Calm down,dear,ha ha !

Let's face it, Neil,  Kirk is a man impossible to please.Even if you won the title every season,he'd still moan.

From my angle losing 1-0 to Frome is no big deal. We also had the added bonus of other teams around us,not taking advantage.

Of the games we've got left I think 10 points out of 15 points is do-able, if we get more I will be cock a hoop.

Nothing is a forgone conclusion but I view our last 3 games at home, as all winnable games.

Chesham with their change of manager,I believe will be weaker but it's still a derby game so we can't take it for granted,so 1 point would suffice but 3 would be great, just to win there for once ! .

On paper Kettering away is probably our hardest match left to play. They like to play passing football like us,so I actually think, that in itself gives us a good chance.

Whether we win promotion or not, it's been a very rewarding season in lots of ways [apart from the Mark Scott injury] so I have no hang up's on how well our team is doing.

What will be,will be.

I think EVERY Slough fan (sorry Kirky old boy can't include you in that category) would have chomped of an arm to be 4th at this stage and most probably competing in the PO's this season (I'd certainly say we're a season ahead of where I expected). So the go from 17th and 16th to hopefully at least 5th is a massive unexpected achievement.

Not sure what school you attend or if the teachers are any good, but its all about ambition.Having got into a top five position and having seen the lads beat the shall we say better sides, you quite happy to be fifth rather than FIRST.

Of course,we want to be first but building a team to win a title doesn't just happen at a click of anyone's fingers

.

At the start of the season, the squad we had assembled,I couldn't see us winning the title but I did think it was good enough to get in the top 10 and with the right additions to perhaps challenge for the play-offs.

The mere fact that we have been in the top 3 for most of the season is a huge credit to our managers.

The quality of player we are now attracting has risen and we have to remember that we have lost our mainstay of Mark Scott in goal and the quality signing of Manny Williams, which to a certain extent has hampered our progress of late.

Our biggest problem this season is adapting to the conditions of the pitch we play on each week. With a season under our belt, we can learn from it.

I look forward to the weeks with no Tuesday games as the quality of posts on here always improves - the last dozen prove my point.
