V Cinderford 18th March

Very true Kirk. We really should have not made any mistakes, won all 40 games and be sat here now on 120 points with the league title sewn up. Extremely disappointing. After all we came 17th last season so winning the league really should have been this season's expectation.

Thanks for the dose of realism Jon. I'm sure nobody is more disappointed than you and Neil and the team when we lost to teams below us in the league but we have to balance that with great highs like beating Hitchin and Leamington away which the same expectations would suggest we should lose.

I'm sure most of us, at the beginning of the season, would have more than settled for being back in Slough, closing on a play-off place and having a chance of getting back to conference level football for the first time since 1998.

Rebelbrewer - my Dad, son and i were speaking in the summer and looked at the signings we had made etc and thought top 10 finish with a chance at maybe pushing the play offs with a good runt to the end of the season. To be 3rd as we sit, top of the average attendance table and still, in theory in with a shot at the league title in the last week of March is as you say a great position to be in.

The other thing to consider is of course that football will always be swings and roundabouts. As much as 3 points on Tuesday night against St Neots went over the bar with Dobbos pen, we scored at the last knockings to draw away at Chippenham, scored 2 in the last few minutes to get a draw against Kings Langley and the list goes on of games were we got something that perhaps we shouldnt have done.

The whole season so far has been very successful and hopefully we can win those last 6 games to put us in the best chance if Leamington / Chippenham slip up and if not, well we have a 100% record this far with Neil and Jon in the play offs :)

Id fancy us to beat anyone at home in the play offs and having drawn away at Chippenham and Merthyr and beaten Hitchin and Leamington we must go into the play offs with good confidence regardless of who we end up with.

The real interesting one is that 5th spot at the moment with Banbury on fire could Merthyr miss out completely!

We're a 3 generation family of supporters too.

The play-offs were such fun last time that, if I could guarantee we could get up that way - and I can't, I think I'd even prefer it.

Home against any team but certainly prefer not to go to Hitchin or Merthyr.

I think we all need to temper expectation with reality, personally i expect us to win all games (just like John?) but while we have lost games it happens, we generally play decent passing attacking football and i have no complaints or issues with our current position and how we have played in most of our games.

On the playoff, i am confident we will get there and hope to get merthyr, as both pitches suit or style of play.

Regardless I'm happy with seas to date and am sure the team and management will continue to do us proud in the remaining games.

Having little to do this morning I have looked at our percentage points gained to date. For matches against the teams in the top 6 I calculate 56.67, the middle 12 66.67 and the bottom 6 76.67 with an average of 66.67 for all matches played. So pretty well as you would expect for our position. As previously stated there have been a number of odd surprise results which make for excitement, interest and debate. As stated by others really it's been a great season and not too sure where some of the moans are coming from (that's my opinion!).
