League cup final

The league cup final between St Ives and H&Y will be played at St Ives. It is the first time in a while that the cup final will not be played over two legs (home and away) and they have chosen not to play it at a neutral ground which is a strange decision.

Eh? How can that be fair being played at the home ground of one of the finalists!!! Unless it was decided before the comp started? Surely you wouldn't choose to have a final there considering the poor state the pitch is in and it's hardly the best ground either!

Maybe they think they'll get a half decent attendance with one of the clubs being at home, as a neutral venue would put a lot off. Presumably this would mean more gate receipts to split between the two clubs, and their travelling expenses covered by it, so perhaps Hayes didn't grumble for this reason.

Last year the two legs were played in mid week so at least playing it on a Saturday does help a bit.

There is still a very small chance that H&Y will be back in their new ground and if by some chance they did get back in time for a cup final that would have drawn a big crowd. Surely give it a chance at a two legged final just in case.

"Having liaised with Southern league officials and the Hayes & Yeading united hierarchy, it has been decided, that due to cup final tickets being in short supply, it has unfortunately been necessary to introduce a loyalty scheme for the allocation of tickets, whereby supporters accumulate points for games attended so far this current season. The club very much hopes that supporters have been able to hang onto their ticket stubs from previous games, so as to be able to prove their eligibility.

Whilst the club would obviously prefer to have as many supporters at the game as possible, these measures have had to be put in place to stop "plastics" jumping on the bandwagon.

Loyalty points have been allocated as follows; Away games, Frome 5 pts, Basingstoke 4 pts, Cambridge City 4 pts, Slough 3 pts, Sun Sports 3 pts, Cinderford 5 pts, Kettering 4 pts, Redditch 4 pts, King's Lynn 4pts, Chippenham 4pts, Harrow Boro 2 pts, Leamington 4pts, Hitchin 4pts, St. Neots 4pts, Chesham 3 pts, Banbury 4pts, Stratford 5pts, Cockfosters 3 pts, King's Langley 3pts, St. Ives 5 pts, Weymouth 5 Pts and Cirencester 5 pts.

Home games at Beaconsfield Sycob 2pts, Home game at Hendon 2pts, home games at Uxbridge 1 pt,

and home games at Beaconsfield Rd. 1 point.

Those supporters with maximum points, will be able to purchase their tickets from the Beaconsfield Rd. box office from 9 am on 1st April. Those supporters with 30 points or more will be able to purchase tickets

on 3rd April, also from 9am."
