Loan Signing

Recommended Posts

He is a full time pro, and will be coming to us the night before a game, to make sure he is set for the matches.

He is very highly thought of, and having spoken to Matt Jansen he was particularly glowing of him when he played at Chorley, we have been working on this for about 9 days now, and are pleased it worked out.

Obviously it is only to the end of the season, and like Elijah he will train with his parent club.

With Struds we were always working with the fact that he is Hartley keeper and whilst they have said he could play for the rest of the season, he was unavailable tomorrow and you always run the risk that they say they need him for a certain game etc.

AWH has done well in his two games, and certainly not let anyone down, however our upfront conversation with his was that we were actively looking at another option, and that if we got it then we would go with it.

Guys we give so much information out it is quite frustrating to constantly have to explain every single detail of every deal, when you rarely get anything from most clubs:

Struds is a man of his word (something to admire in this day and age), and agreed to sign for Hartley, and does not want to let them down, therefore Hartley have the control of that situation, as if they turned round on a Thursday and said they needed him he would more than likely agree to play for them, something we are not prepared to work with at this stage of the season, however he remains registered with us.

Also the deal is signed until the end of the play offs, but like every loan after 28 days the parent club have the right to recall if they need to, however we do not expect this to happen.

Focus on the fact that myself and Unders have worked hard to sign an excellent young keeper, and that he makes his debut tomorrow.

It must have been a crazy two weeks for Bakes and Unders since Scott got injured, having to find a replacement in a very short period of time whilst still having to prepare the squad still hoping to challenge for the title.

They did well to get Strudley in at short notice but obviously knew that there would be times he could not play and that it wasn’t a full replacement at this time. AWH then comes in again at short notice also knowing it was complicated situation with no guarantees. Both keepers did well though and put in full effort knowing that things could change quickly. Neil and Jon have now brought in Shaun Rowley who will almost certainly be here until the end of the season and play every game. The squad can now settle and most importantly the defence can try to settle with just one keeper and try to get to know him and his playing style in the short end of season run in.

We will need a new keeper next season as unfortunately Scott won’t be able to play. I am sure Strudley and AWH will be fully aware of this and hopefully will keep in contact and come back next season to become the new number 1 in better circumstances.

Neil and Jon do a great job keeping us informed and sometimes too well informed. You don’t have to look far in our league to find other clubs supporters frustrated at being kept in the dark about players.

It looks like a good signing for me, well done once again Neil and Jon

Hi Neil

I'm sure we all appreciate the work you and Jon do and in particular how hard you have worked to cover the goalkeeping situation. No Slough managers have ever been as open as you with supporters and I for one think that is very positive. Dad and I were discussing this only lunchtime (we both go back to the Amateur Cup semis with Dagenham in 71) and like the fact that your openness leaves little room for rumour mongering (even if a player is moving on you explain why in a kind but clear way.)

I've said before that whilst I understand that everyone wants to have their say I see myself as more a supporter - with an active responsibility to support and encourage - than a fan.

The runners I coach respond better to encouragement (sometimes challenging encouragement) than just criticism and I'm sure that football players are not too different.

Keep up the good work.
