Biggleswade

The pitch was awful, most rugby players wouldn't have played on it. The ref wasn't great either but ultimately we were shocking tonight and struggled to even pass to each other.

Biggleswade were nothing special and all three goals came with a big slice of luck. The first goal strudley made two great saves before a big deflection left him wrong footed. The second goal came from a route one ball where our last defender slipped over in the mud leaving their man one on one. The third goal came as strudley got stranded out wide leaving an open goal.

We need to learn from tonight ready for frome in a few weeks as it will be the same over there.

No MotM tonight. Dunn and Dobson tried hard but there was little quality throughout the side.

Perhaps the pitch was more suited to Biggles route one tactics with the pace of Hoeness?

Sounded like Hoeness was giving us problems all through the game.

We did not play well on a difficult pitch, but we had more than enough chances to at least level the game before we got sucker punched by those late goals (one from a slip and another from a defensive mistake). It was very obvious that it was not going to be our night after those chances, and especially the way the first goal was conceded after the double save then beaten by a deflected effort. We seemed to struggle with putting enough on the passes to get them across the heavy pitch. Bunting however did look useful once he got into the game and was unlucky not to score, while Dobson hit the woodwork twice in a couple of minutes. I could accept a 1-0 loss as "not our night" but I don't think 3-0 was an accurate reflection, though they did have a few chances to extend the lead, just after half time in particular. They did work very hard to close us down and give us no time on the ball.

Just got to re group and get ready for a big game on Saturday.

No doubt the game plan that those 'nice' Hitchin players will be using on Saturday.

Once I saw the pitch I new we would struggle, wonder why they did not.We will soon be known as fairweather players. As the pitch was no good to play fancy football why did we not adapt our game to suit ? Hope I am wrong but I think Hitchin might be a tough struggle.

Pitch wasn't great but we we still had the chances to get something out of the game and not sure pitch really played a part as to why we missed them at the end of the day. it almost feels like in this sort of game the goals are fractions smaller than normal with the amount of woodwork hit and shots inches wide we seem to have as it beggars belief.

I know our instinct is to pass but we really need to find a more effective way to combat pitches that we can't do that too successfully on. could say one of those days but it was same story at St Ives and Cinderford too. not sure how many times that can happen before it becomes an "easy excuse" of sorts

all 3 goals had element of luck and really makes the loss even harder to take. other than the double save before the 1st goal and a sitter missed after half time Biggleswade didn't really have any other clear cut chance all game

it could have easily been a pen for handball early on yesterday as seemed to me (and even Brown in goal) that the guy had leaned his arm into the cross. we had similar at Cinderford not go our way either. lot of refs would have given at least 1 of them.

anyway onto Hitchin and hopefully some breaks go our way

Woah I though people were exaggerating their pitch but that is bad! Aw I do like their keeper though such a great bloke always so friendly. And before anyone attacks me never met our keeper and sure he's nice too

their keeper was adamant that he is retiring at end of the season and shook the hands of Slough fans behind the goal at ft

He was a good laugh all night and one of the few enjoyable parts of last night. Friendly banter going both ways and was a shame to here him say he is planning to retire.

Its was only last Saturday that Merthyr scored 5 goals on this terrible pitch Their match report starts by saying how wet and muddy conditions were and they managed to adapt to them The Biggleswade twitterfeed comments on how many chances we had Sounds like we had another of those sloppy casual performances that turn up now and then

I really don't think our problem was being 'sloppy and casual'.

Perhaps Merthyr just took their chances on the day where as we didn't?

Were still work in progress. Compared to where we have come from last few seasons, at least our second half season syndrome is not as bad as it has been in the past few seasons (I see that as progress). We are going to have slip ups (midweek trips seem to be our achilles heel this season. I just want to see us progress next season and be seen as one of the big boys in this league (or fingers crossed the one above ..... that would be nice) ...
