Glen - we went to this one and Sailsbury we missing about 7/8 players. The looked fairly decent going forwards but struggled like mad to stop an under strength H+Y side in defence. 1st half it was 1-0 and a close game. The Sailsbury side went 3 at the back from the start of the 2nd half and that was the end of that as H+Y took them apart.

7/8,injured from what their press guy and a bloke we got talking to said. Apparently they started with 2 midfielders in defence and it showed.

Crowd was actually surprisingly good. We rocked up at 7.30 expecting there too be less than 100 there and the car park was full and there were cars up the road on both sides of the entrance. Fairly shocked and probably 200+ there for a decent evenings entertainment.

In last nights game between Leamington and Chesham the ref gave a free kick for a back pass when the ball came off a Chesham players thigh.

I wasn't 100% sure on the back pass rule so looking it up it seems it's not deemed a back pass if it comes off a players thigh, knee or shin.

Another couple of strange rules which I'd either forgotten or they have passed me by is that a free kick would be given if a player uses a 'trick' to pass the ball back to the keeper i.e.

'A player flicks the ball up and then heads the ball back to the keeper' or

'A player heads the ball along the ground to the keeper when he could normally have kicked the ball'

Both are considered 'unsporting behaviour' and it's irrelevant whether the keeper picks the ball up or not.

I wasn't surprised by Salisbury game too! Was sure they would beat H&Y, they have played a few midweeks in that so thought they would have taken seriously. Bennett and Wright played and are top scorers in league and so they obviously played a strong side.

Will be a shame if Hayes go down for us I think! (Unless we are not in this league of course) :)
