Enfield Town v Billericay Town

One helluva mouth-watering Premier Division clash in prospect, under the lights at the Queen Elizabeth Stadium, tomorrow (Tuesday) evening, when The Town host Essex rivals Billericay Town, in a match eagerly awaited by both sets of fans.

The two clubs haven't met yet this season, but Town are currently 8th in the table, two places and three points ahead of The Blues, so plenty to play for in what should be very close, highly competitive encounter.

Last season we drew 2-2 at home with our visitors in the league, and lost 3-0 at New Lodge. But, in the Second Qualifying Round of the Emirates FA Cup, we came away from New Lodge with a 1-1 draw, before winning the replay 2-0 at home.

No team news available so far for The Town, but Joe Ellul will not be in The Blues line-up, as he is serving a ban, while Rob Swaine and Tambeson Eyong are both rated doubtful for this match.

Very best of luck to Brad and the boys in this match. Let's give it a real go guys, give the home fans plenty to shout about, and deliver another three points.

'COME ON YOU TOWN'

The new owner of BTFC has announced/tweeted a winger from the Vanarama National has been signed today and will be involved tomorrow. And also a "BIG GUN" with football league and international experience who will be involved in their game on Saturday...... rumour is it's Paul Konchesky who was last with League One side Gillingham.

There is nothing we would like more than a home win tomorrow... Come on you Towners!

Billericay's big-spending new owner Glenn Tamplin has already made a raft of new signings, with more to follow, and their wage bill is already around £9,000 a week.

Tamplin's aim is to win the Ryman Premier Division  next season, and then go on and win the National League South. It will be interesting to see if this happens. Having a money man involved, certainly makes it easier to attract experienced players, but it doesn't necessarily guarantee immediate success. Time will tell !

The Blues have won seven of their last eight matches. Ten days ago bottom of the table Grays Athletic beat them 1-0.

Billericay have just signed today Mekhi McLeod from Eastleigh. The pacey winger has previously played at youth level for Fulham, Wolves, and Rangers in Scotland, before joining Ware, VCD Athletic, and Eastleigh. He could make his debut this evening.

Even if they do gain short term success they will no doubt go the same way as other Essex teams that have had big money injected into them for brief amount of time.

Remember Canvey and Grays ..Rising briefly through the pyramid only to return as low (if not lower) than they were before the money men took over and subsequently pulled out.

Oh come on LS. How on earth do you know they will go the same way as other Essex teams? Why not just concentrate all our thoughts and efforts on our team rather than other teams.

You're quite right - the trouble with these 'money men' is that you're always just waiting for the party to stop. Mr. Tamplin can't possibly get any kind of financial return on the large sums he's pumping in. So either the money runs out, or he gets bored and moves on. Either way it doesn't seem sustainable in the long term.

Billericay were struggling following their relatively recent relegation, so I say good luck to them. I just hope the bubble doesn't burst.

It looks like Margate might be on the way back down. Another team which had some money for a short while...

That was a cracking game ! At 2-0 down so early in the game, I thought that we were going to get battered. However, a stupid last man challenge, saw their defender rightly sent off and then we started to play a bit. The first goal was a brilliantly worked free kick and the second a headed goal by Oleyide ( I think ), which was the result of a fine team move. The second half we had enough chances to win two matches but either couldn't convert them or their keeper saved it. They've spent a lot of money and it shows in some of their players but alas, it was another two points lost !
