Will be interesting to see who the player is, if we get him, because looking at Conference South, our division and the Ryman Prem there are no obvious candidates.

 

At this stage of the season I would imagine it would have to be a proven goal scorer at this level or above to boost our promotion chances.

With only 2 recognised strikers, I too would hope any new striker would be as good as or better than we have to give that extra boost for the run in.

I think it would be better to bring in a back up striker right now. James and Flood have developed a good partnership between them and it would be a bad idea to bring in a striker who would disrupt it. Making sure we keep scoring goals freely will be crucial in the run in so having a good partnership up front who are already doing that is important.

 

If we need to we can always do what we did for the end of yesterdays game and go for a 4-5-1 or 4-2-3-1 with Harris and Dobson coming inside to help or Dunn pushing forward.

 

 

 

And if all else fails, maybe try Smart up front. lol

I wouldn't mind Bradley Watkins from Chesham but can't see that being a possibility.

 

Too be honest I haven't the foggiest but on yesterday's performance if I was to be critical of anything from the Slough team, it would be our shots at goal,as most were weak efforts or got blocked.

So another striker option has to be a good thing.

I wouldn't mind Ryan Blake, very quick and knows where the net is.

 

I think the trouble we've got is getting a good striker in at this stage of the season who is willing to bide his time a be part of a squad.

True, any decent striker scoring/on form at this level or above is either not going to fancy it knowing he's competing with 2 others or would command big wages. I feel it could be a loan signing from a higher level club who's maybe not getting enough games or is maybe an experienced head.

Neither... is an up and coming striker from step 4. We will know the result of the 7 day approach after Tuesday, we have spoken with him, and are hopeful that he will want to join.

I always thought you couldn't speak with the player until the 7 days is up? With that period more for the current club to speak with the player to persuade him to stay or to start looking for a replacement.

The reason I said Brad Wadkins was that I thought that given where Slough are now, in terms, of league position and our great set up off the pitch and our new stadium, I would think we might have a chance to prise him away.

For me he offers more than just a striker as he's experienced in playing in centre midfield.

He seems a good honest player who is strong and would be a good foil to the strikers we have.

I would be looking for someone who could play in the Conference South or still be an asset, if we are going to battle for honours next season in the Premier Division. 

 

Can't see Andy Leese letting him go but it would be nice to 'rattle' our rivals with an offer.

As you say, he may well be injured.

 

Anyway, I can see why Bakes and Unders are taking a punt on a Step 4 striker. Think I now know who it is.
