Worthing v Enfield Town

Town travel down to the south coast tomorrow to play in-form Worthing, in the Ryman Premier Division, hoping to put recent setbacks behind them, and secure a much needed victory.

Three months ago we played the Rebels at Donkey Lane, in better days, and edged past them 2-1 in a very close match which could have gone either way.

Worthing are having an impressive first season in the Premier Division, and are currently 9th in the table, one point and two places behind Town, with two games in hand. They have also done well in cup competitions, particularly the FA Trophy where they beat Dagenham & Redbridge 1-2 away, before drawing 2-2 at home with Sutton United, and losing the replay 3-2 at Gander Green Lane after extra-time.

Worthing play on a 3G pitch and have experienced drainage issues with it, since it was installed, which have resulted in the postponement of some matches. They hope to get it sorted at the end of this season. Be interesting to see how it plays for our match.

Tomorrows match will definitely not be a stroll on the beach, and Town have little margin for error, if we are to keep our play-off hopes alive, and will need to be at their best to get points from this challenging fixture. We will also need to keep close tabs on the Rebels young striker Lloyd Dawes, who is quite a handful and has been scoring a lot of goals.

All to play for. Good luck to Brad and the boys. Come on guys you can do it!

See you there.

Morning All.

A lovely start to the day down here in West Sussex. Blue sky, sunshine, and pleasantly mild.

A couple of bits of news from the opposition camp before todays match.

Worthing have just completed the signing of experienced goalkeeper Kieron Thorp from Three Bridges, after their first choice keeper broke a bone in his hand last weekend. The Rebels have also signed Louis Clark, a Brighton-born striker, who has previously played for Lewes, and David Ajiboye, another forward who is on loan from the Seagulls, and featured in Brighton's 5th round FA Youth Cup defeat at Stoke City.

All three are expected to be involved in our match this afternoon.

Sorry, but there is little to no information available at the moment, regarding our team. Will be released no doubt nearer to kick-off time. I will be there today, and I am hoping to see a strong team performance from our guys, with stacks of character, determination, and ambition. Will it happen - I honestly don't know!

Have just returned home from a really thrilling match, which saw Town re-discover their form, and produce a very impressive all-round team performance, which delivered a well deserved victory down here on the south coast.

Worthing are a good side, but Town matched them in all departments, and Scott Shulton's opening goal was a superb 20 yard strike, which must be a contender for goal of the season. Shame Scott picked up a red later in the game!

Make no mistake this was a great performance from the Town today, probably very similar to that produced at Wingate & Finchley. Does make you wonder what went so badly wrong in our two previous matches. But credit where its due, and Brad and the boys did us proud this afternoon. More of the same at Lowestoft next Saturday guys!
