vs Merthyr

What a game and what a performance! One of our old time supporters came up from Zummerset to see the Rebels for the first time in years. I told him I hoped he wouldn't jinx things which he didn't. His son his a regular supporter at Bristol Rovers and was enthusing about the game and said he wanted to come again which they plan to do at Easter. COYR!

Anybody interested in what Kirk has to say about the game, not heard from him since Kings Lynn funnily enough! ;-)

Kirk thought it was a very good win and he made the whole team " man of the match ".

Sorry that you missed him but been a bit busy apparently.

Would like to hear less about the play offs more about winning the league which is still very possible.

Great result against a very good Merthyr side. Well done Rebels.

Looks like Chippenham's league to me. They just keep grinding out the three points.

Battle for play offs should be very entertaining though

Thank you Kirk/Sloughboy - only need the single reply to you as you are one person - always posting at the same time - both accounts registered within a month of each other - and both with the same drivel.

Looks like a classic case of trolling for the moderators to have a look at.

So wrong slough boy nothing to do with me.Is praising the team called trolling then ? Did not realise wanting to win the league was drivel .

Surprised no one's mentioned Sean Fraser's performance, he was my MOTM although I agree Nathan Smart was exceptional, too. I thought Sean led from the front and was up for the heat of the battle. He made many timely tackles and his overall play was what you want from a captain.

Who'd have thought Guy Hollis would struggle to get back in the team? !

Strange game yesterday, really. A winter game played out like it was a summer pre-season friendly in the first half..The atmosphere of the crowd was quiet and muted to begin with and Merthyr were not a patch on what I expected them to be, in terms of their enthusiasm and commitment to get a win. If I was the Merthyr manager I wouldn't have been happy at half time with how their team had played.Think the shape of the Slough team's formation bamboozled them a bit, hence their double substitute changes. It appeared like they were trying suss out Slough's play first half and I was expecting them to come out second half fired up and pose a lot more attacking threat than they actually managed to do.

On the day, Slough deserved the win IMO as we dominated possession first half and seemed the more hardworking out of the two sides. Our defence held firm and our midfield worked their socks off. Floody and Gav put in notable shifts up front without necessarily being a goal threat to what they can be. Our players seemed to want it more than Merthyr, which is a great compliment to them.

Trust our luck to have to play Cinderford, now they've found a bit of form. Still let's hope we are too strong for them. In theory we should be.

I think a lot of our players could have got a mention for MOTM including Sean Fraser but I think the general consensus of opinion was Nathan Smart had a blinder and his timely interceptions were vital.

I thought Merthyr battled really hard to get something from the game but on the day we were just that bit too good for them.

Sometimes you can only play as well as the opposition let you.

In some ways I think the Cinderford game will be an even bigger test for us.
