Sir Rebel1965
Good to see the presentation to St Joe's - does this mean they will now unlock the gate and allow direct access to the ground?
GlenSTFC
I wish someone would let us know the reason as it's very annoying and doesn't make sense.
GlenSTFC
But back on topic, great to see the partnership with St. Joseph's blossom which will benefit both camps.
A Rebel and a Saint
For the record, the gate not being open is nothing to do with the school (in fact the headteacher today did say he had received a strongly worded email from the builders lawyers for opening it), so it is down to the builders. Back on topic, yes it was great to present the kit today, they were very appreciative and said that being linked with the Club, Trust and Academy has created a buzz around the school with students going to games and we're going to work on a partnership to advertise the Club more around the school. The kits look fantastic and everyone really liked them, so it's a great investment for the school.
Reading Rebel
I did hear that it was because the ground is still classified as a building site. I don't know for sure if it is true but if so it's a strange one as there are no building works going on down that side and where there are building works at the front of the ground, cars are parked on match days. Be good to get a definitive answer from the council/builders just to get to the bottom of the rationality behind the decision.
GlenSTFC
Well let's hope once it's finished and passed over to the council, that gate will be allowed access, can't see any reason why it wouldn't.
David Carpenter
I think the situation is that until phase 2 is completed and there is final full handover to the Council then Morgan Sindall are responsible for site safety. They are therefore entitled to lay down the parameters regarding access to the site. SBC will have agreement with Morgan Sindall as to the permissions for access to the site under phase 1. I can understand why Morgan Sindall would therefore not be happy with uncontrolled access via the school gate.
GlenSTFC
Yes makes sort of sense that if the site is under the builders control they don't want extra safety headaches so are keeping access tight. I therefore expect once it's handed control to the council in May access to the gate will be granted.
Martin
The St Joe's presentation was fantastic. Certainly now we are back in town these are the sort of links the club and trust need to build.
