Kings Lynn away

Ok we turned up late and it's a long journey after work but are we that bad or have KL suddenly become a top team? Never expected to lose tonight after Saturday, you'd think confidence would be sky high, such a let down and massive surprise.

I really don't think it's as black and white as that Glen. Sounds like we arrived late, started poorly and didn't improve. One of those days and more proof of how tight the league can be.

I'd probably have taken three points out of six from two very difficult away games.

However, when you've been sitting on a coach for 3-4 hours, then only get 10 minutes or so to get that journey out of your legs, you are always going to be on the back foot, with muscles not at their optimum. That goes for anyone, from you and me, to the very fit, like our players.

I'm sure that when Jon, or Neil provide us with their post match interview, we will get a very frank answer. Until then we, who were not there, have no idea why the first half was like that, apart from knowing they arrived late, due to traffic, and had a very short warm up.

Anyway, as others have said, that game is now gone. Now we look forward to getting back to winning ways at Arbour Park on Saturday.

From the outside losing 5-2 and particularly being 5-0 down at one point it looks bad. But it was good to see that we kept going second half and did get those two goals back.

It was mentioned that after winning 6-0 we shouldn't the lose by a big margin, well it could just as well be said that after losing four in a row we shouldn't be beating the league leaders by six !!!

On to Dunstable and a home mid week match against Weymouth, two teams not doing as well as they would have hoped this season.

Full credit to Bakes for his as usual honest and frank interview given after tonight's game.

Sounds like 1 or 2 really unbelievably poor refereeing decisions coupled with some really poor performances from some of the players has lead to our downfall tonight.

We need to put tonight behind us very quickly and prepare for what undoubtedly will be a very tough game on Saturday.

Awful sounding result!!!

Understand bakes frustration but some of the words to describe the ref decisions maybe not best and hopefully not heard by anyone at FA or with the ref! Easy said than done not to comment on a seemingly shocking decision but maybe could have been less inflammatory. Still massive credit for frank assessment tho.

Sat is a massive game now for sure

A thoroughly enjoyable evening (apart from 45 minutes of it).

Predictably slow journey, but very welcoming staff at a ground evidently scaled for higher levels of football (bit weird buying a ticket from the ticket office, not at a turnstile). Picture the scene: possibly the biggest grandstand in the league (admission £1 extra) on one side (paddock in front), a full-length covered terrace on the other, and uncovered terracing both ends surrounding what looked like a poor pitch with thinning grass cover. Also two bars (including a dance floor with mirror ball, hello!), a food stall and a barbecue with excellent burgers. Facilities, they got 'em.

And on to the football... For the first half, it's hard to disagree with Bakes' assessment: a bad day at the office for nearly all concerned, and although I was at the wrong end to be objective about the disputed line calls, even from where I was standing it seemed 'odd' (aka utterly mental) that no offside flag was raised before the second goal went in.

From that moment it looked like heads went, and with it the shape of the team as well leading to further carnage, devastation and delight for some hard-of-thinking home fans near us who repeated the scoreline regularly (even though at one point they seemingly missed a goal and had to be reminded it was actually 4-0...). Six attacks, five goals, worst half of the season no question.

Weirdly, some other home fans I spoke to at half-time were still not convinced that they had done enough, seemingly shell-shocked from the 1-6 defeat to Weymouth recently, however they need not have worried. After the break we had a good sing-song, shouted a few cathartic phrases at the officials and generally had an enjoyable time (considering the circumstances).

On the pitch, a much-improved performance saw us regain our shape and composure and salvage some pride. Manny's goal was a thing of beauty reminiscent of Chris Flood's first goal at Leamington, and well laid off by Ash who put himself about well. Floody then made his mark again with a well-taken finish, but we all knew it was up long before the end.

File it under bad day, move on, but learn from it - keep our heads up, keep our shape, keep doing what we've done for most of the season so far. And keep singing.

Have to agree with everything Christof said. Can't really add to it either. One of those nights where things went crazy against us first half so sod it lets just have a laugh and a sing song second half.

Also have to agree I'd have taken 3 points from these two tough away games.

We go again Saturday. We really need to get behind the team and make more noise at home though.

It seems after every result we now get people describe the next game as ' massive' . Understandable but every game is only 3 points in the grand scheme of things. Truly massive games will be the ones that get you the last couple of points to reach the playoffs or not, or the playoff games themselves.

What I think is clear since Christmas is that we can not be sure which Slough team will turn up at any given game ( or any given half!). We are consistently inconsistent which must be driving the managers mad. For us as fans it's frustrating but certainly not boringly predictable.

On Saturday we play a side better than KL but not as good as Leamington. So on recent form we should be 7-0 up at Half time and end up clinging on for a 7-6 win!Or the exact opposite!!

It has been like that for many years now.

Well if anyone is feeling down in the dumps and sorry for themselves after last night just remind yourselves that we would of given our right arm some time back to be in the position we are now, that should put a smile back on your face :)

Also a lot of us didn't go last night due to either just finishing work, the long journey and work the next day which is fair enough but it's the same for the players except they have to play a game of football as well, not making excuses but it must take its toll sometimes.

Players do get paid though Sue.

So getting paid makes it feel different after doing a full days work and traveling about 300 round trip, then on top of that getting about 10 minutes warm up

On a plus note Ascot got a game in, but lost 3-0

You would have to ask a player that Mark but I would hope they are hurting today.

I personally have more sympathy with the fans who made it up there at great expense, yourself included I would imagine.

There is a recurring theme here ie. we beat the topsides and lose to the struggling ones.

I haven't checked recently but there must be other teams that have travelled as far if not further and came away with a win.I am now hoping for a play off position at best.
