v St Ives

Wasn't there so can't comment on performance but result wise obviously extremely disappointing to lose two on the bounce which will really harm our hopes of top spot. You could say St. Ives we're on a great run but they are still a mid table side which you really need to be beating if our aim is promotion. Next up Cinderford who being bottom you have to expect a win or panic and loss of confidence will start to set.

Poor performance but I got to say st Ives is embarrassing ran out of balls and had to run around trying to find some, managers swearing and screaming at officials constantly. Their 5 is a plonker I can find a harsher word but that would show little class like the st ives fans!

The only way you can describe that performance is DREADFUL. Correct me if I'm wrong but the St Ives goalkeeper didn't have one save to make. On those type of pitches you have to be more direct which I think we have tried to be but our strikers just don't suit that type of play. We definitely need an alternative upfront, someone that is a lump and handful. The team needs to show more if we're going to stay in a play off position. On the way home seriously pissed off.

If it could get any worse it seems we were beaten by a tin pot outfit who embarrassingly ran out of balls or was it a cunning ploy to time waste?

This is not Sunday morning football and hopefully it's mentioned in the Refs report to stop it happening in future games.

Over to 3spirit for his constant calls for us to have a 6'6 lump of a center forward.

St Ives are mid table because they had a poor start to the season and were a bit of an easy touch. They made the necessary changes to the squad/management and are now a team that are no longer a push-over but a team to be reckoned with in the second half of the season.

Disagree that because Cinderford are bottom that we should expect a win on Tuesday. They are bottom for a reason but they will be scrapping for their lives and if we don't match their effort in order for our quality to come through we could be in for a very difficult night.

After 2 consecutive defeats, expecting a massive reaction in the next game against the bottom side (they are there for a reason!) you have be confident of a win, anything less will make top spot very difficult considering the amount of away games this month plus playing Leamington and Chippenham. Of course you can say winning any game in this league is a given but I doubt I'm not the only one who'd be devastated and annoyed if we don't win Tuesday.

It would be good to have a player like that,RR, as an alternative to the strikers we have.

However, moaning about a player we do not have in the squad is pointless.

Charlie Moone missed a glorious chance with his head, after a great cross from Dobbo. It looked harder to miss !  Charlie was back to his lightweight best today ! [sarcasm !]

Unfortunately Gavin James isn't Charlie Mpi. He is too inconsistent. He plays brilliant one week and is largely

inconsequential the next. As was the case today.

Dobbo put in some good crosses but nobody got on the end of them.

The problem we have, is how we adapt to play on these heavy winter pitches. I would like to see more shots on goal from inside and outside the penalty box. The St Ives goalkeeper had a free ride and could have sat on a chair for what he had to do.

We obsess about long crosses into the box, when at times we should be playing a square floor pass to players, in space on the edges of the box. We need to mix up our play a bit.

I think we should freshen up the team for the Cinderford and Biggleswade games with two or three other faces from our squad, as our first eleven today looked a team bereft of ideas and almost complacent on how they perform together. St Ives were a hardworking team but nothing to write home about.

Both of their goals came from mistakes by Slough players.

When we go to Cinderford I would like to see us be positive and play a 3-5-2. Maybe bringing one of our attacking wingers into the three man midfield. We don't want to over complicate our tactics but they do need a boost to our attacking ventures forward.

If we do play 4-4-2 I would definitly not play the starting eleven of today. For me Gurkhan Gokman and Nathan Webb should be starting and perhaps we should push Dobbo up front, as at the moment, he looks like he's the only one who's likely to get us a goal.

Let's hope for better on Tuesday.

In Gavs defence Stuart, he is still recovering from a very serious injury (and if you saw his thigh you would understand what I meant by that), and convinced when fully fit we will see the best out of him.

Not going to disagree with much more to be honest, I think people heard my views in the after match interview.

The beauty about football is we have another game to hopefully right the wrongs.

Really really bad day at the office and could have easily been 2,3 maybe even 4 down in first 25-30 minutes

We then finally got a grip of the game of sorts and probed a lot but weren't able to really create much at all for rest of the game.

As we got more and more of the ball St Ives were happy to play on counter and eventually got them the penalty.

Their #5 was a dispicable human being (even their keeper said he couldn't stand the guy) but unfortunately he was superb when it came to his defensive duties.

Frustrating that moone couldn't take the headed chance that somehow went all the way across the goal and wide. Probably would have been enough for a scarcely deserved draw as we likely wouldn't be caught out on counter that lead to pen if we were back level by then

Raised expectations from our great season start but I'm not pressing the panic button just yet. This losing sequence needs to be stopped quick to get us back on track

Really hope to hear that the players on Tuesday put in a performance we know they are capable of and do themselves justice. The effort and mindset needs to be right though as Cinderford are fighting for their lives

Answer to this sort of game is don't make defensive mistakes, we are making too many and it's punishing us badly. Horrible pitch, oppo support (drunken sarcastic abuse from the bar area), foot through the ball tactics and yes we got what we deserved  - nothing. St. Ives are a counter attacking team by their manager's admission and they carried that out to perfection. Their no.5 seemed to love it every time one of their players smashed the ball into oblivion. Main tactic - hump it forward for Ogbonna to chase. I'd like to see them try and create something by good football, but if your sole objective is to stay in the division then so be it.

I'd have taken a 0-0 considering it all, a bit like with the Chesham game when a draw would have been ok too.

Cinderford next, too far for me on a weekday, but COYR.

Neil, understandable then why Gav was out of sorts, apologies.

I also accept that the pitch wasn't the best but should he even be in the starting 11, if he is that bad?

Why don't we go and get ourselves a target man for the squad? Yesterday our play was crying out for one.

The two previous seasons, we have hit rocky patches of form, with winter pitches, so it's no surprise that our current team, used to playing free flowing football in summer/autumn, are going to struggle to adapt their tactics to heavy pitches.

While I like watching great passing football, yesterday's pitch wasn't ideal for that.

We need a forward who can hold the ball up/shield the ball,so that our attacking players can play off of him, when we need a more direct approach to our attacking play.

Someone not afraid of big centre halves, who's willing to put himself about and can hold off a player and is useful in the air.

He wouldn't be needed every game but would certainly be an asset for these winter type of games.

It is an exaggeration to say that a target man has to be 6ft 6'.   Six foot would do !

I can think of a type of player like this, who is ex Staines Town and is currently playing at Fleet, who would fit the bill. Might be worth an inquiry? Unless you can think of someone better or easier to obtain?

I haven't heard your interview, Neil, where can I find it ? Didn't see it on the SloughTown website.
