Leslie Cleverly

It is with great sadness that I have to pass on that my grandad, Leslie Cleverly, passed away today at the age of 93 peacefully in hospital after battling a short illness.

Some of you may remember Les, especially from the Dolphin and Wexham Park days when he was a regular follower of the rebels along with his son Richard standing on the halfway line opposite the main stand. It was them who introduced the mighty Rebels to me and my cousin Matthew back in the early 90's. Despite not attending many games in recent years due to the move to Beaconsfield and his own mobility issues, he would always want to know how Slough were getting on and would always celebrate our victories (and bemoan our losses!!!). His last game was the 2-0 win over Leamington earlier this season and he was delighted to get the chance to see our new ground. He didn't have a clue who any of the players were but I remember him saying the 'little bald chap in midfield was very good' (well played togs!!!).

On a personal level, he was an inspirational man who never had a bad word to say about anyone and who was the greatest grandad anyone could wish for. He will be greatly missed by all his family and friends.

Should any rebels fans who do remember les wish to attend his funeral I will post details when they are confirmed.
