MK Dons - b&b cup

Judging by all the noise about this game over social media I wouldn't be surprised to see a 600+ gate tomorrow

Looking at the MK Dons site they usually announce the team early in the day for the cup game and so could be used as a platform to increase this even more if it's a strong lineup

A good 3-0 win against an inexperienced MK Dons side. Adebayo x2(?) and Dobson with the goals.

Our experience compared to the young Dons was clear throughout with our players able to read the game well and cut out and muscle the dons off the ball well. Our back four were solid and Scotty barely had anything to do all night. Hicks and Nisbet were superb, winning the ball almost every time and hardly gave away any free kicks against a very quick attack. Fraser and Smart did well as well not letting their opposition cut inside and knew when to just shield the ball out of play and let their physical presence show. Togwell and Webb broke up play and started off our counter attacks with precise passing. Adebayo and James did plenty of work up front as well not giving the defenders any time on the ball and creating chances themselves.

Adebayo got the first goal with a fine header into the top corner to give us the lead going into the break. The scorer of the second goal was a little more dubious with Nisbet having a shot after a corner which went through a crowd of players and Adebayo claiming he got the last touch though i'm not sure. The third goal though was definitely Dobsons who smashed in from close range. We could have had a few more if we had been a bit quicker when having shots rather than always trying to have a clean sight on goal but it didn't really matter as the game was over at 2-0 and we were comfortable winners.

A semi final against Maidenhead next and what should be another big crowd. 636 tonight was only slightly less than the 3 league games combined tonight. I would say only getting 3 goals for one of our £5 home cup games is a bit poor after the last two (9-2 and 7-4) :P

Surprised Flood wasn't included as I'd thought it'll be useful for him to get another game getting used to the new surroundings? Of course there's probably a good reason why he didn't play. Did Biss make any impression, not sure if he's played recently and to what level he was playing at (I know it was in NZ but obviously none of us what standard that is!). A bigger crowd than I'd expect on a cold December night just before Christmas in a nothing competition, hopefully if there were any newbies that like what they saw and will come back soon. I presume tonight would have reached a conclusion? Only ask it started at 7.45pm and I thought we had a time limit for evening games as another did start at 7.30pm? Be interesting to see whether either side in the next round take it seriously as both are flying high.

It was a 7:45 kick off as it would only have gone straight to penalties no extra time.

No need for Flood to play, Gavin James was scheduled to start after his injury lay off and it was also Adebayo's last match apparently so they both started.

Biss wasn't amazing but it was obvious that he doesn't know the rest of the team yet so he didn't link up much with the others as he doesn't yet know what runs they like to make. I;m sure over time and once he gets to know his team mates better he will come good and will be a useful squad member.

of the 636 tonight the majority were Slough fans with plenty of kids so that was great.

Ah ok no extra time explains that. I just thought Flood might even be a sub, one match doesn't matter i suppose. Anyone know when the semi is (guessing January?).

10/1 to 20/1

So I'd guess 16/1 is our free Tuesday

BUT that would make 4 away games on the trot

I couldn't get to the match last night, and disappointed having seen the result and all the positive comments about the match.

I see the other semi-final is Chesham v Hungerford.

It will be interesting to see how seriously the semis are taken by clubs and how well attended the semis and final are.

I expect MKDons are well shot of the B&B cup, years ago we never took it seriously, neither did Reading or Wycombe.

.

I am pretty sure if we were in the 3rd round of the FA Cup (like MK Dons, Reading and Wycombe), then we wouldn't have any interest in the B & B either.
