V Kettering

Still think Kettering are in with a shout of play offs, as are Chesham & Frome (on their current form) and Redditch. Top 5 are the main players at this point and have been most of the season so far.

Shame about the 2 goals conceded yesterday, it now looks like a close game which it never was. I could be wrong but weren't those goals their only 2 shots on/off target, aside from a first half free kick?

As said before Kettering have some good players and will take points off the top teams this season (don't think they will make the play-offs) but it is testament to the way we played yesterday that we restricted them to so few shots on target.

Personally I think the current top five will remain there.

Great 80 mins could win the league playing like that most weeks, lucky it wasn't 1 nil when Kettering woke up.

To be honest I don't see Kettering any where winning the league.

Kirk, your first comment is spot on but to say we were lucky it wasn't one nil, with due respect, is a bit daft.

Besides it was more we went to sleep than Kettering woke up.

DJD, make no mistake Kettering have some good players but today we were on fire and just too good for them and IMO we made them look like an average side.

For the first 80 minutes I don't think any team in this division would have lived with us.

I think the only substitution that unsettled us was Dan Hicks replacing Simon Dunn. Dunny along with Togs were dominating the midfield and with due respect to Dan Hicks he is no substitute in midfield for a player with the class on Simon Dunn so I can only assume that Dunny has picked up some sort of injury.

Simon Dunn asked to come off as he had taken a knock and Sean Fraser also had an injury.

Nathan Webb was replaced for tactical reasons,I think, with Bakes and Unders wanting to add Putts as an attacking threat.

Nathan Smart came on for Sean first, and then Putts for Nathan.

So Dan Hicks was the only logical replacement for Simon Dunn.

Thanks for that info 3spirit.

Dunny was on top of his game yesterday and along with Togs were running the midfield so there had to be a reason for Dunny to come off.

Apart from their two late goals, Mark Scott probably had one of his easiest games of the season so far. Given his injury at Chippenham, I think that would have been a blessing.

I thought Simon Dunn had his best game in a Slough shirt [of the games I've seen] yesterday.

Also Nathan Webb's work-rate in closing players down and making tackles has to be recognised, as he was up there with Dunny, in the superlatives.

With the new acquistions, we have got the best squad we've had for years and are not carrying any deadwood. The competition for places are now red hot.

I noticed Beaconsfield are playing at home on Boxing Day, so when we play Hayes and Yeading there, the day after, we're bound to have to adapt our style, from the luxury of 3g to what could be a mudbath, if the game goes ahead?

I agree with all what has been said so far, was so good to watch us playing the ball around with such confidence, unless I have missed it I haven`t seen anyone praising Scotty for his part in the 3rd goal! The ball he played out to Dobbo was inch perfect, after that Dobbo was superb and is up there with Elijah`s 3rd goal in the trophy for my Goal of the Season so far!  Until we open the gate between the car park and the ground, can we please stop scoring and conceding goals in the first 3 minutes of matches!! I keep missing all these goals!

Gashimoto - not sure inagree with the straight red for the Charlie Moone "tackle", i think the yellow was right for that one, HOWEVER, given that the guy was on a yellow, the ref then booked the left back for blocking Sean's run, the right back did the same thing about 5 minutes later and got away with it, then commited a 100% booking foul and got a stern talking too. For at least one of those other fouls he should have got the 2nd yellow and an early bath. Other than that i actually thought the ref had a fairly decent game.

Regards not getting a red card I spoke to a Chippenham player this week and he was saying the Hitchin player who got away with not being sent off against us should of been sent off against them last Saturday.

There again he was a bit quiet when I mentioned about the Sandell v Scotty tackle..
