V Kettering

Another excellent performance today and hopefully a return to the types of performances that got us so many wins in row earlier in the season.

Though everyone did well today and on Floods debut i thought the runs and positions he took up created so much space for Charlie Moone was brilliant. Looked strong in the air and had some good touches. I suspect when he and Charlie play a bit more together they will create an excellent pairing. Dobbo's goal was fantastic and i bet the Kettering #6 still doesnt know where he went LOL.

Shame to let in 2 late goals, but in fairness to a decent Kettering side, they were both decent goals, especially the first one.

All around good 3 points and a nice set up going into the Xmas period.

What an excellent all round team performance from our lads today. The team was fired up from the start and Bakes and Unders had the players inspired and gee-ed up, to put in a huge effort to overcome the resourceful, tricky opponents of Kettering.

First 70 minutes Slough blew them off the pitch. Up to that point one of our best performances of the season.

Last 20 minutes we tired somewhat and enforced changes lessened our intensity but for best part Slough still seemed to be heading for a fantastic 3-0 win, so it was a bit of a bummer to concede two late goals and end the game with a narrow scoreline of 3-2.

Goal difference might count at the end of the season, so shipping two goals to Kettering late on, was irksome.

However, Slough was so good for most of the match, that the final scoreline seems an injustice.

Not one player had a bad game today and there was a number of players who could have been awarded the Man of the Match.

Charlie Moone was outstanding and got the official title, which is hard to argue against. I thought there was four other players who were among the best today, those being Simon Dunn, Nathan Webb, Dobbo and leading the line and working offside to a tee, Mark Nisbet.

Good steady debut by Chris Flood without hitting the headlines. Linked up well with Charlie Moone, which bodes well. We didn't need Floody aggravating his past injury. He also needs to get to know his teammates and the way they play, so a fair game from him was always on the cards.

Believe we can expect a lot more to come from him

His signing though, is a big statement of intent, from our managers, and that Slough aren't settling to be also rans this season, which can only lead to exciting times ahead for us fans.

Hurrah  ! ! !

Don't let the scoreline detract from the fact that for 80 minutes this was a superb performance and arguably, along with the Leamington game, one of our best performances of the season so far.

Some really top draw displays all round and the selection of MOTM could have come from a number of players.

Really impressed with Chris Flood. His movement and work rate was top notch and IMO it was no coincidence that we saw the best of Charlie Moone today.

Excellent display and 3 points from the rebels!!!

Important win and much more like our best. Outside of a bit of a crazy, sloppy last  5 minutes or so which threatened to obliterate the good work of the previous 85 we were really good. Not sure what exact thing caused the wobble but it's something to learn from and make sure it doesn't cost us in the future

Great 3 points though along with a much better performance. Back to the everybody 7 or more out of 10 performances we produced consistently earlier in the season. Could have scored more as we ripped Kettering's defence apart time and again and maybe we could have seen the game out better but overall very good.

Were all the substitutions enforced?

I thought Simon Dunn and Lee Togwell were immense in midfield today and I'm pretty sure if Dunny was still able to stay on the pitch we would not have conceded those goals.

Lets hope that if Dunny did pick up an injury that it's only a minor one.

Although Floody did not score everything else about his performance for me was excellent.

Back to our Best .

Don't worry about the last 5 mins , the subs disrupted the team and if Charlie had got his hat trick it would have been 4 - 1.

We took off Dunn who was running midfield and Webb who had probably his best game of the season. At 3 - 0 we had had probably our easiest game of the season , the defence had Kettering in their pocket and we always looked dangerous.

Flood led the line well and really gave us shape and was excellent in the air.

Dobbo was mom for me , always dangerous and that goal was brilliant.

Well that's half the season gone and we are second.

Great crowd for the Saturday before Christmas, best in the league and we are top of the attendance league.

Not a bad way to head off for Christmas. Hope the boys enjoy their Christmas party they have earned it.

Everyone is far more positive than I expected. I thought for 80 minutes we dominated a poor and lacklustre Kettering team that barely threatened and couldn't string 3 passes together. Then two (enforced?! I guess) substitutions unsettled out team a bit (especially at the back) and Kettering were given a bit more space and tore us to shreds. Another 20 minutes and I think we would have lost that game. Not knocking the team as they batteredkettering for the vast majority of the match and 80minutes of superb performance from many (the best imho being Dobson Dunn and moone (who should have got 4 today) was nearly undone by ten minutes of shite.

DJD, make no mistake Kettering have some good players but today we were on fire and just too good for them and IMO we made them look like an average side.

For the first 80 minutes I don't think any team in this division would have lived with us.

I think the only substitution that unsettled us was Dan Hicks replacing Simon Dunn. Dunny along with Togs were dominating the midfield and with due respect to Dan Hicks he is no substitute in midfield for a player with the class on Simon Dunn so I can only assume that Dunny has picked up some sort of injury.

RR I was at the game you did walk past me at half time.

Terrific performance well deserved win apart from the last few minutes.

What a strong squad of 18 plus players we now have.

Nobody has said how unlucky Hicksy was in not scoring after a mazy run goalie had to make a good save to stop.

Floody looks like the quality player to unlock the defences in tight games in future matches.

Interesting fact that only 4 games out of 11 in the Conference South beat our attendance today.

Our average attendances would now be in the top 10 in the Conference South.

The Conference North is entirely different though, where half the clubs have average attendances over 1,000.

I thought it was fantastic that the top non league match yesterday (Lincoln 2 Tranmere 1) had an attendance of 6,335 (Tranmere are averaging home attendances of 5,000, Lincoln 3,418).
