Sir Rebel1965
I see on the twitter link that the Hayes and Yeading game has now been moved to Tuesday 27th and they are not even sure where it will be played. What a joke, as a very carefully planned and negotiated escape from the family on Boxing day afternoon had been organised. Now it clashes with events on the 27th. What a shower of shite H&Y are - cant sort out a ground and cant book a diary!!!!!!!!!!! Why don't they play it at Arbour Park on the 26th and keep everyone happy? GlenSTFC
I'm sure the players and management won't be too disappointed! ?????
Reading Rebel
Whatever day it is, if H&Y cannot get their ground ready why not play the game at Arbour Park? I would imagine gate takings will have to be shared.
Bernie Gogan
A bit harsh REBEL1965! I've some sympathy for HandY, this problem has been around for 5 years or so and this season was to have seen the end of it. As we can tell from the league table it hasn't helped get a settled side and another relegation looms if they don't sort it out. Playing at Arbour Park makes sense financially but I doubt that they'd want to offer us a playing and support advantage.
Sir Rebel1965
Not harsh, as it is of their own making - flogging off there own ground for a quick buck, claiming their ground was ready when it was not, committing to the league schedule, and then messing peoples Christmas arrangements about. In comparison, our Chairman made sure things were properly in place with contingencies ready for our move back home. The solution is simple, play at Arbour Park on the correct date and they can pay the price for their lack of organisation and forward thinking - why should we be disadvantaged? SloughFlyer
Rebel1965 - totally agree with pretty much everything you said, however, when they sold their ground at some point the owners went off with all the money and they had to be picked up from the gutter by another set of hands, so not totally of their own doing. I do however agree about playing it at Arbour Park on Boxing Day. Thought hand not really crossed my mind about that and as they will be "away" regardless of where they play it, why not stick to the scheduled fixture. Only issue from our end is if Arbour Park needs certain things arranging for it that may not be readily available on Boxing Day.
GlenSTFC
Although it makes sense switching it to AP, I just can't see the league agreeing to it, imagine the uproar from the clubs around us would cause?
staines_rebel_Jr
I wouldn't make much difference to when we ground shared at Windsor and Beaconsfield, playing at home on their ground.
GlenSTFC
I think it's different now though with a 1000+ crowd and 3G pitch it's a much bigger advantage. Anyway certainly can't see it happening and we could be at SYCOB for this fixture.

Absolutely no guarantee of a 1000+ crowd, the home game was a complete one off as shown by our gates settling back to about 600 and H&Y averaging less than 200 whilst at SYCOB
GlenSTFC
It's a xmas fixture though so I'd be very confident it'll be around 1000.
staines_rebel_Jr
It's a xmas fixture though so I'd be very confident it'll be around 1000. Attendance for the last 5 boxing day matches 15-16 (H) vs Chesham - 438 14-15 (A) vs Chesham - 479 13-14 (A) vs Beaconsfield - 263 12-13 (H) vs Burnham - 312 11-12 (A) Beaconsfield - 416 nothing even close to 1,
SloughFlyer
I would agree with Glen, no doubt in my mind that if we played them on Boxing Day at AP the attendance would be over 1000. No point looking at the last few years as at SYCOB the attendances werennt even close to what we are getting on average, even taking into account the first few games of the season. If you really want to look at attendances in the past few seasons, go back to 1st December laat year, we wer at home to Biggleswade and got 242. Almost double that there today (and Frome bought virtually noone). Double those Boxing Day games from SYCOB and add a few for the increased popularity of the team and season tickets and 1000+ would surely be very realistic. All irrelevant though as there is no way that the league or H+Y will play the game at AP.
GlenSTFC
All those crowds are when we've been ground sharing! Our crowds are double what we got at SYCOB and more would come out for the bigger games plus Boxing Day is traditionally the biggest crowd of the season. staines_rebel_Jr
Our home attendance are still a long way from 1,000, with today dropping down to just 460 (average down to 585). Add to that H&Y low attendances and the clear fact that Boxing day matches no longer draw particularly inflated attendances. IF the game was played at Arbour Park I would love to see 1,000+ but being realistic it wont happen.
staines_rebel_Jr
Also remember that even if it was played at Arbour Park it would still be an AWAY game so our season tickets would not count so you would lose a lot of people for that. Our biggest non league game (non season ticket) was against Dartford which had 733 people with a very big away support from Dartford (more than H&Y will bring)
GlenSTFC
Ok lets just say we both have different opinions on it otherwise it'll be more wasted time carrying this on further!!!
Rebel Kay
Am going to defend HandY here. We were in a similar position going into the bank holiday game. We knew when the game was but not where until less than two weeks prior. We could have waited to see whether they made it back into their ground in which case we could have played on boxing day or not in which case it would be sycob on 27th. My view was that knowing the date was the important thing to enable the players managers and supporters to plan their holiday period. I therefore forced the decision on the date. Now I know that it won't suit everyone, but at least we know and people can plan their lives accordingly.
HEAVY TRUCKER
still a bank holiday, and if the weather persists it,ll probably be called off due to all or part of the pitch at holloways being frozen anyway.
GlenSTFC
Confirmed by H&Y that Beaconsfield SYCOB will host their game against us on 27th December KO 3pm, might be more of an advantage for us than them!
