Mind Your Language....

Thoughts anyone...??

MIND YOUR LANGUAGE INITATIVE

At the League AGM at the end of June, there was unanimous support for the League’s proposal to attempt to curb the growing cancer of foul, abusive and offensive language and behaviour.

At the start of the season, a letter was sent to all Club Chairmen informing them of the MIND YOUR LANGUAGE initiative and issuing all clubs with 4 x A3 laminated MIND YOUR LANGUAGE posters. It was a League requirement that these posters be put up in all 3 dressing rooms (Home, Away and Match Officials ) and in the clubhouse. An A3 pdf of the poster was also produced for clubs to insert in every match day programme issue – this pdf was , and still is, available on the FA Full Time website for downloading. Again it was stipulated that was a League requirement.

It has been brought to our attention that there are still clubs who are not displaying the posters, as well as a small number of clubs who do not have the ad in their programmes.

At the meeting of the Management Board on Tuesday 22 November, it was unanimously agreed that from 12th December, any club found not to be displaying the posters , or not having the pdf poster in their programme, would be charged under Rule 4.8.

It is accepted that those clubs who are in a ground share situation, particularly with a club not in our League, may possibly have difficulties in permanently siting the posters. However the Board would ask that those clubs put up, and take down, the posters on a temporary basis on match days, using Blutack or something similar.

MIND YOUR LANGUAGE BIBS

All clubs will shortly be receiving a number of MYL Bibs which must be worn by substitutes on the bench/in the dugout. ( Division Two clubs were handed their bibs at the meeting on Monday evening) Clubs with Development teams will receive 10 bibs, whilst clubs running just one team will receive 5 bibs. The bibs are a nice shade of pink, which hopefully will not clash with any of your team colours – home or away! This is a League directive and Referees will be asked to note any club not complying. As above, Rule 4.8 will apply.

The league have invested a lot of time, effort and money in the MYL initative (with all clubs unanimous approval) and therefore are very committed to ensure that it is given every chance of success.

Why is everyone getting hot under the collar - the clubs supported this

I think you'll find the people that vote for these things (mind your language campaigns, under 25 development divisions, etc, etc) are not the people who are charged with actually carrying out these mind numbing ideas on a match day....

And what a quite frankly atrocious opening statement to write.

Nostalgia!

Football is dying in this country, why??? The FA need to get a grip! What next, ban supporters? Get a swear box for every time someone shouts an expletive???

Yes swearing is unnecessary, yes some players and managers go over the top, but it is not something that can be policed adequately!

PC gone mad! Mind you, Donald Trump is the President of America so the lunatics are finally winning!!!

This is the buzz topic at the moment isn't it, clubs judged on discipline..marks on how well your bench behaved, how many C2 bookings your players received.

Team of the month dropping down to the club next in the form line with better discipline...?

The only people who can be accountable are referees.

How many occasions do you hear officials say they will tolerate no foul language and then let every player and management say what ever they want.

If referees had respect for themselves they would stamp down on this as it happens.

You punish individuals as it happens!

Once the bookings start, players will learn. Clubs will get punished as the C2's start building up.

But for me it starts with the man in the middle!!! Referees!!!
