patemondo
I cant say I was to impressed. My car and garden was frozen still in Stotfold at 2 and with temperatures not getting higher than -2 that game was always going to be called off. I got our match secretary to ring Leverstock they said it was perfect, that's all very well but as soon as the sun goes down it was going to freeze up again. Even If you had started the longer the game went the worse it would have got. Another wasted trip to a game thanks to someone not having some common sense. OD's
I know not SSML but no better at step 4. Made the trip all the way to HIston (120 mile round trip). Pitch frozen at KO but ref decides to start the game surely knowing no chance of finishing it. (Abandoned 27 minutes) Histon to blame as well, did not bother getting a ref in to have a look at 5pm before people travel. Surely pitch was not good at 5pm, as certainly was not an hour later. We had this ourselves at Royston last season when it was called off as the players appeared in the tunnel because a tiny part of where the linesman runs hadn't thawed out enough. I suppose common sense would have told people that there was little chance of it going ahead - and I doubt anything tonight will survive either. Unfortunately, it's not unknown for games to be called off at the last minute and, as patemundo says, even if you had been able to start, then there's no guarantee it would have finished. It's not fair on either club, especially the home club who's wasted time and money on personnel, programmes, food and stocking the bar. Funny how Hemel went ahead, though. Perhaps Mr. Boggins's riches now stretch to undersoil heating
