My PERSONAL Comment on this is

1) The manager of a loosing team use "Oh well the other team is on more money"  to deflect their supporters away from that they just lost.

2) We all know Steve from over the years has never gone mad with the playing budget.

3) These players from a higher level coming down to play for Slough, Could be a great sell by Neil/Jon On the fantastic new ground, playing service, playing football on the ground instead of hoofing the ball, even the caliber of the players coming/at the club.

Some players do want to play football and not think of the money, look at Windsor.

The bottom line is,

Only a couple of people know the Budget and what each player is on. EVERY thing is just guesswork

I can't imagine its all that much higher than last year to be honest

As we know, Steve, has thus far proved a very shrewd chairman rather than sending us down a dead end...Anyway, a couple of reason why I think we aren't as high

- There are around 230 season ticket holder who paid £100 max, thats 23k. Last season we had less but they paid more....£160 I think although can't be sure. Anyway thats just over £19k so actually not that much more this year

- Sponsors are coming in now but apart from Morgan Sindall I think sponsorship opportunities were the same for the start of the season

- When we signed these players we still wasn't 100% sure on how long Arbour Park would be...I mean it was 90% given but still must have been seeds of doubt somewhere

Therefore I think we did indeed use the sell of crowds and the ground and playing surface.

Alos, if you look at our marquee signings, 3 were from Basingstoke who went full time and so players were looking for a new club. One local and one who sat on the bench for the most part of a winning ryman prem side........

I think this is mostly great work by our management team rather than chucking money at these plauers...

Spot on Glen...

I don't get why people get touchy about it. We are not ridiculous high spenders or low spenders would be my guess! Whatever it is, it would be safe to say and predict that we are slightly over achieving with current league position over probable budget.

No one is saying anything negative about it.

Personally I don't care what the budget is right now but what ever it is and however much the players and managers are being paid they are earning it right now, second in the league plus decent cup runs which earned us about £20,000 in prize money plus gate receipts.

I think a lot of people confuse the clubs total income with the players budget Not at all the same thing So long as SE and Jon and Neil have worked out a budget which allows them to recruit a successful squad and react to short term problems Im happy with that.

Plus we never replaced Ed Smith or Charlie Mpi from last season's budget so they were (I imagine) two of our higher earners.

I also don't care what we pay players as long as they earn it on the pitch and we are not losing money hand over fist - that is something I trust the chairman 100% on.
