Trophy vs Wingate and Finchley

Just a shame after the hard work the lads put in to beat Merthyr over two games to get ìn this round and then to go out with a wimper.

Must say the power driver of a shot from Togs was going in from my angle to make it 2-2 then the game might of changes.

At 18 Elijah is just starting out and playing against experienced defenders who have all the tricks to put him in there pockets.

There are a lot of other skills that he will learn but this will be over time so give him some slack.

When Charlie Mpi came back to us he was a totally different player as he had learned his trade over the years.

Very committed and had the hunger and drive.

Your right RD, Elijah should be cut some slack. Every player has an off day especially when you're 18 and new to men's football.

Yesterday, both Elijah and Charlie Moone were pretty ineffective and IMO something had to change but as we all know our options from the bench were very limited if not zero to make that change.

IMO the same change was required in central midfield but again our options were limited due to suspensions.

Would not be surprised if the Rymans league was not on average stronger than our league it always use to be.

Lets hope the crowds keep coming.

Not sure that's fair over any reasonable amount of time. Historically the Southern League and Northern Premier Leagues were seen as the top 2 leagues and clubs like Burton came through them (a lot less examples of ex Isthmian clubs really going on.) Right now I think they're pretty even - remember the seeing to we gave Bognor.

I think going out of the FA Trophy will be a 'blessing in disguise' in our quest for promotion.

I thought the only difference between the two sides was that Wingate were more clinical. Putman had a free kick well saved and one that hit the post and they defended well first half, 2nd half was all us, they hit us on the break. Getting the third goal was the key factor which left us open at the back. Sure lack of options on the bench didn't help but it wasn't all doom and gloom

Well as you will read in my programme notes, I was not happy with the story in the slightest.

It was unusual to speak with Graham who I understand is the editor (as normally only speak with Daniel and never had an issue with a story in 3 plus years),  the conversation was led by him saying the first round is an opportunity to play someone higher up the pyramid, at which point I replied with yes it would be great to play someone like Maidenhead in a glamour game at Arbour Park, but that we had a really tough game to negotiate first and couldn't worry about what might be etc etc....I said on paper we were probably slight favourites with our home record and home advantage from bookies point of view, but with the suspensions and injuries that would negate the home advantage, and make things very even.

The way it was written did not convey the conversation, and I know that Wingate used that... something we would have done if I had seen a similar article.
