Slough 1 Windsor 3

Windsors second goal was the back post cross to Scott (completely unmarked) and Fossie tried to simply put him off knowing he wasn't going to get the ball as he was (rightly) covering his near post to prevent the shot coming in from the wing.

He then duly got a lot of undeserved stick from those who don't like him.

No Gary, Fossie swatted at the ball as if he was trying to get rid of a fly and not as a keeper who is regarded by many as one of the best in the league. I have often defended (to a degree) Fossie when others have come down on him much harder but there is no question that his effort to claim the ball on the second goal was poor by anyone's standards. I'm not someone who slags off players for the sake of it but he WAS at fault for the second goal!

Well like Ted said, you cant appreciate the poorness from behind the goal, Gary. From standing on the side you could see that Foster didn't attempt to move off his line (as always) and made little attempt to catch the ball (as always), just waved his hands towards it in panic. I know i dont particually like the keeping ability of Foster, but Stevie Wonder could have seen that poor display! I know that there are few keepers about and that Slough have a tight budget, but something needs to be done, gifting goals in a number of games lateley has cost us.

The position of the winger meant that Foster had to cover his near post to prevent the Windsor player giving him an easy shot into the near post. A well delivered ball across the face to the unmarked Scott saw Foster attempt to try and get a touch on the ball when perhaps it would have been better for him to jump and spread across the goal, but given Scott's aerial ability, he'd have been able to do little about it regardless.

No comment of any one of three top class saves then as always. Personally, can't consider it to be a goalkeeping error, but each to their own.

I'm sorry, but what a total load of bollo**s. Foster to blame for the Windsor goals? Crap.

The first was an unchallenged header, the second he did his best to cover a cross when his defence had gone completely AWOL and the third was just a good finish from a swift breakaway.

I haven't written the report yet but my notes suggest comment is worthy of a fantastic mid air claim by Foster to prevent a certain goal after 12 minutes, his contribution to the goal with a superb clearance and a fantastic stop with his right leg after 49 minutes to prevent Windsor's second goal before they scored 3 minutes later.

My son blames goalkeepers for EVERY goal a team concedes and he is seven.

Ian, please don't think I'm forgetting his contributions throughout the game. He did, as you say, make several important stops and in Matt's defence as well when I spoke to him just after half time he praised Foster for his first half display saying he was having a much better game. However, I feel we're going to have to agree to disagree on this point because in my opinion Foster WAS to blame for the second goal. My parents, who aren't regular supporters of Slough, but are football fans, were along the side of the pitch and the first thing they said to me when I met them after the game was the fact that Foster had made a complete hash of the second goal, and that came from people who have no idea of the stick Foster has already had from some people.

Apologies Radders for my slightly alcohol-fuelled comments. Actually, not the comments necessarily but maybe the way I said them!

Yes, Foster did flap a bit at the second but in my opinion only because he was trying to be where his defenders should have been. I've ben critical of Fossie on a couple of occasions this year but I think doing so against Windsor is slightly harsh. I'd prefer to ask where was any defender for either of Scott's goals?

This is causing quite a stir... so for what it's worth here's my two pence. I'm very supportive of Foster being in the team and he made some crucial saves Friday to stop it being four or five. I think though that he could have been a lot more decisive when coming to punch or catch - HOWEVER as mentioned above he wouldn't have been in that position if the defence had been awake and been marking up, paticularly Keith Scott. All Foster could do was flap at the ball to try and prevent Scott from getting his effort on target. But there are ten other players who must take collective blame for the result as a whole

From what I saw from the second goal yes the ball was in the air a long time, but I don't it's Fozzy's fault. From what I remember it was some porr defending on the right as the cross should not have been allowed in. If were going to be picky where was the marking for the first and why did Murphy try and dribble the ball out for the third?

There is a third way. The defence for the second goal was crap with no marking. And Foster should have dealt better with the cross. Both of these factors contributed to an easy goal for Windsor.

My point with regards to the crowd was more to do with "locals" who attended the game purely to come to a boxing day match. Those who have no particular affiliation or history with either side. Who will they go and see again given the choice? Obviously sharing a ground we will never both be at home but games like Friday are a good chance to attract the floating football fan.

Also when I posted that I was feeling pretty miserable. Bloody football.

To be fair, I know what you meant about that, but the vast majority were regular Slough fans and perhaps more who can/will only come to big games (FA Cup 1st round, Trophy, Bank Holiday games, etc). Also I know a few Wycombe and Maidenhead fans came down as well, obviously as neutrals (although the Wycombe fans wanted to see us beaten I think)

hi domm and all back to its usual slow pace.

that game i was considering finnished maidenhead 1v0 hayes and i forgot about burnhams home game with fleet and burnham one 3-0 as well and, typical. the weather was not to bad until in the evening so another lost oppertunity. did any body go elsewhere in the rymon not just south. if so could any body report to me as im at a loss and christmas has peatered out with slough losing once nearly twice had ashford not let us off the hook and spurs seembed condemed deserberly third from from botham and admitedly are a very poor side . slough need a miricle to stay in the top six and spurs need a miricle to avoid the drop with the wolves . oh well if nobody out there posting replys. im busy for a while mid week going to bounemouth to sea some south coast relitives and hopefully windsor v corinthian c goal feast. anybody up for that . and then are own fixture away at walton. lets pray this time the ref dose not make a mistake next time. otherwise see some of you on the supporters coach 1815 sharp hopefully with one of are drive-time friends. dry mild weather and clear m4- m25 would strongly help the dodgy cituation and entry for a stuedent for £1.50, or at the ground.
