Slough 1 Windsor 3

Yep, not good but I did not think that Windsor allowed us to create much.

I hate to say it, but they have a very good side that would finish top six in the Ryman Prem. Carroll and Cousins are far too good for this level.

We are lacking quality, still think we have enough to finish top six and get promoted, but if the squad is not improved on next season we will be heading straight back down me thinks.

Clearly lacked pace both on the wings and also at the back. Simple.

Personally, can't see what Spencer would have added to the performance today. Give him an inch of space on the wing and he is capable of putting a good ball into the box, but Windsor were quick to close us down all over the pitch.

Despite this being a big local derby and everything, and given the differing histories of the two clubs, I am here to say that there is no shame in the the fact that we lost to Windsor today. They were clearly the better of the two teams today, there's no point anyone trying to deny that, and their goals were well made and finished, i.e. the third goal on the break. Windsor will push Lewes all the way in my opinion to win the league although I think Lewes will shade it as they're the best side I've seen, simply put.

My main point is that from watching Windsor and Lewes this season, we can see what we're missing, namely fast wingers and players who can play decent passes. At the present moment it's looking unlikely we can get anyone in, as Denton has already said. It's easy to see how our £25,000 has helped Windsor in this respect.

As for Slough, well it was a disappointingly poor showing all round, loads of individual errors so it's hard to single out anyone. The one plus point for us was the gate of 680, so well done everyone.

Good luck Windsor for the rest of the season and let's hope for a more successful 2004 for Slough Town. I still believe we can make the top 6 but we're certainly not going to make the top 4 on the basis of several of our performances this season.

COME ON YOU REBELS

They were a good side, so good that we didn't have a shot on target. That says as much about us as it does about them--we looked poor. We were completely lacking in ideas for the 2nd/3rd game running. We were lucky to get back into it against Ashford, created little against Marlow. Seems more than a coincidence that this coincides with Spencers abscence.

Top 6 finish? Possible, but unlikely.

Bloody annoying. We copme into a big local derby with the possibliliaty of moving away from the chasing pack of the top six and we play S***e. Windsor outplayed us, but I honestly don't think that they are a good side. We made them look better then they actually are. Lets hope we do better when we meet again in April.

Windsor are not a good side? Best we have played this season apart from Lewes. Don't think there are two better players than Carroll and Cousins in this division.

As for Spencer. Might have made a difference, as you always need your better players and Ryan is certainally that, but the way he has played this season i'm not so sure. Spence and Boot have been shadows of their former selves. You only have to look at our bench to worry a little Apart from Steer and Harris - who else were we really going to put on today.

Still think top six is very possible, and a run in the B & B, but next year the squad needs a few more players.

Yes we lost to Windsor, but what goes around may eventually come around - we may be one of the top teams in the League in seasons to come... and we may get a new ground... well here's hoping anyway !

It's true, the £25,000 has gone a long way to building the quality they have in the squad, that was evident today and ever since we kicked off the season. But when it's all said and done survival was the name of the game when the money was paid to WEFC, as we needed somewhere to play, so we can't blame them for being so sucessful at our expense - we just have to get on with it unfortunately

Not sure too much of your £25k has found its way to Dennis Greene's budget just yet. With the fiancial resources of Peter Simpson and Kevin Stott I think you will find that their squad was always going to be this strong. They have decided they can reach the Premier Divison (or better) this season and they are determined to take the chance. If I am right, then should they be promoted, this years rent plus next years (assuming Mr Deaner stumps up!?) could provide them with a massive budget in a new Division.

What Spencer would have added today is creativity which none of the 11 men that started today have in any amount anywhere near Ryan. Everyone knows that I am a Spencer fan, but I can't see how anyone can deny that since he went off at Marlow we have looked dire with little idea. We played poorly for the remainder of that game hardly creating a chance, did not create anything at Ashford until Harris came on, who is probably the second most creative player in the squad, yet for some reason Bartley still starts and then today we created not one effort on goal. His work rate may not be as high as say Miller/Wilkinson/Daly but that is not his job. If he plays in a midfield with Hyatt and Wilkinson then they are the men who win the ball and feed him to create. Maybe this is an argument, which I have said all season, that Spencer should be playing more central, probably the position currently occupied by Boot so that he can be given license to worry about the attacking rather than defending. If you take the bloke, Clarke, at Lewes, he does not worry himself with tracking back too much as a winger but spends his time fashioning chances for the strikers. I'm not comparing, as even I can admit that Clarke looks a better all round player than Spencer, but players have their jobs and I truly believe that if people judged Spencer on what he brings to the team rather than the attributes he doesn't have then they would understand why he is arguably our most important CREATIVE player. Anyway, rant over for today, hopefully over the next couple of weeks before Walton we can get a few players back and find some much needed form to at least keep the top six in reach.

Does anyone know how long

Gyoury

Barrowcliff

Deaner

Spencer

are likely to be out for now?

If that is true well then Windsor are set to be the best non-league team around these parts!

Windsor are by far one of the best teams in this league. They do look a lot better than most. Things certainly have changed in recent years and Windsor deserve what they are getting at the moment. Several years hard work has paid off. Good luck to them for the rest of the season except the return match.

This could be us in a few years ?!? Who knows ?!?

So why don't your supporters get down and watch them?! You have a fantastic team that's the best I've seen against Slough for a couple of seasons yet even today, the support was pitfiul. If there were 150 Windsor fans there I'd be surprised. A team of that ability and quality deserves better.
